Thanks Carol. Hope the vet group practicing worked on systems play. This team is far from being ready. |

Thanks Carol,
It must be painful writing about this team these days.
Kind of like being in these threads. |

Carol is amazing why are we ashamed? Scored 2 vs a damn good Oiler roster it's a win/win for us. Only 3 NHL'ers dressed from what I saw lol |

I look at it this way. This is Boudreau's first training camp in the organization. It's his first and only chance to take a look and assess what he has within it before the games count.
He knows what he has in the vets, they should know his systems and expectations by now. So he's dressing the guys he wants to get to know before the major cuts that are coming soon. It's preseason, some of the panic is comedic. |

So for arguments sake let's call the preseason "getting the team prepared for the regular season" because that is the priority over the secondary issues like 13th/14th forward and 7/8 D.
"It's only getting your team ready for the regular season." sounds pretty comedic.
After Green failed to put his lines together in the preseason and get them ready for when results matter last year, no one should mock these concerns when the coach dresses 3 or 4 regulars only in the back half of the pre season... but keep laughing.
In case you haven't noticed, other teams are handling the preseason when it comes to dressing regulars differently.... just like last season. Teams that kicked the poop out of the Canucks early. It wasn't a case of the Canucks simply being outplayed in a solid effort by better teams. They clearly were not ready even for the poop teams. Like I said many times last night... wins and losses are not my concern in the preseason. Putting this team together and getting them prepared is. Game 6 of the preseason is next and some of the regulars have only played 2 games. It should have been narrowed down to just a few players they want to take a better look at, not almost an entire team of AHLers at game 5. That's ridiculous.

TYC.
I enjoyed the game yesterday. Until the end of the 3rd.
No surprises from the cuts today.
I guess the final roster battle is for 4th line RW and 6-8 Dman spots.
Dyckenson has not stood out imo.
But neither has any bubble forwards.

Last night I read about 6 threads from the end of the preseason. I was showing the same concerns about Green overplaying the players not likely to see a NHL game for their entire career right to the end of the preseason and all the same responses were being posted from the same people *mostly. I know there is still a couple of games to go but you'd think these guys would be a little more cautious yet they are all in with the same cliches as last year. |

Next two games should be pretty close to opening night - NewYorkNuck
With us having Boeser and Mikheyev injured, we’re currently having 16 forwards on our team… just need 2-3 more forward cuts and 0-2 cuts on D, depending on Dermott and if they’ll carry 7 or 8 D-men. |

I am just being a jerk. From what I read the baby Canucks played pretty well against Edmonton, just lacked finish.
On a more serious note, you guys needs to have your BBQ. It would be glorious. I imagine it looking something like this.

Carol Schram: Depth D-man Christian Wolanin makes an impression, Canucks fall to Oilers
The Vancouver Canucks' preseason record dropped to 0-3-2 on Monday, after a skeleton crew logged a 7-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place. A bright spot: offseason free-agent signing Christian Wolanin, who has looked steady on the blue line. - Carol Schram
Great blog, I sure get a chuckle over the preseason panic, oh poor Bruce to be compared to Green, now that is comedic gold. |
