I still find it pretty cool that you're connections allow you to speak 1-on-1 with GMs. Just seems like most GMs are so busy managing billion dollar organizations that they don't make themsleves too available to the media. Most will do periodic press conferences to a large group of accredited media...but you get 1-on-1 calls disclosing what a rival GM said in confidence. Pretty amazing!

They all call Ek for his take on potential moves. If he vetos a move it doesn’t happen. On rare occupancies he has approved a trade but then the league has stepped in to veto the deal.

In fairness, Ek never said it was an NHL GM he spoke to. Could be an OHL or, heck, even a fantasy GM, who also would not be in on the Kane sweeps.
