This is just absurd at this point. Eakins needs to explain his lineup decisions. PR being scratched and having DG in the lineup is insanity.

McTavish needs to play C .. Another mindnumbingly stupid decision by the swarm.

Krappenkirk anywhere on the ice is an automatic turnover ...

Special Teams.. that is a total misnomer ... Are Comically bad.

Gibson is letting in AHL level goals.

Where is Rocco.. His speed and and tenacity along with finish would be a great add. He proved his worth in preseason... It's as though Verbeek doesn't believe in merit based performance.

Eakins has to go after the loss tomorrow.

They actually outshot a team! Hey, small victories. I have a bad feeling about Gibson, he's starting to let in soft goals. Hagel's goal two games ago and Stevenson's goal this past game were both easily savable IMO. Fortunately, Stolarz has looked better after a rough start but what to do about Gibson? Both Mike McKenna and Brian Boucher have questioned Gibson's effort on the NHL channel on Sirius XM. The Ducks get another team on a back-to-back tomorrow where they'll probably get the backup goalie. Hopefully, they can end the slide then. I wouldn't put any money on it though.

Has Gibson shown much the last four years? His last strong season was 2019.

Coincides with the beginning of the Ducks downturn. Coincidence?

Expected. Goaltending is the single most important variable. Unimpressive play even compared to his backups is why I doubt he'll ever return to his former elite play.

Yep. I used to laugh last year when the NHL Network talking heads used to blame Gibson's numbers on the suspect Ducks' defense when all they had to do was look one column down on the roster sheet and see how good Anthony Stolarz's numbers were! And Stoli was getting the short end of the stick when it came to starts.
No, I think Anaheim is stuck with Gibson unless there is a goalie disaster on another playoff-contending team and they are desperate. Then again, he's got a 10-team trade list and if it's not one of those teams, I'm sure he'll nix the trade.

Elite goaltending is so rare in the cap era with coaching staffs analyzing everything and players adaptable enough to exploit weaknesses. Lundqvist and arguably Vasilevskiy are the only two I've seen long term consistency from. Gibson did have an excellent run to start his career, but considering him anywhere above average at this point appears optimistic.
