Ek says no way. This is old news. Friedman has it wrong.
Less than 24 hours later...Ek has come around to confirm the Provorov rumours.

Why wouldn’t I just sign Horvat in July? Flyers don’t need him for this year.
Also just how much more playing time does Provorov need? They took him off the pp which has helped his overall game. If he is the warrior we all think he is then he should not care if he is on the pp.

I don’t see them getting two late first picks for Provy.
His salary is alright but in 2 years he’ll want a raise no matter where he plays. That timeline doesn’t work for many teams.
Is Provy a top 100 D man in the league? Yeah, I guess. Top 80? Questionable. Top 60? Absolutely not. He’s a 2nd pair on a contender at best and peaked around age 24.
Toss in its Fletcher doing the deal. Good luck. |

We can’t use Chyc yet as an example cause he has not been traded yet. Unless I missed it.
However, I think they have sim value. Chyc w a better contract, but the injury history between the two balances it out. Provorov is not Yandle… he plays a man’s game and yet doesn’t miss a game (knock on wood).
W all that said, why are the flyers trading a guy who gets annoyed when they lose? He’s the anti Yandle Hayes which is prob what Torts was referring to when he said the locker room was broken even before his first practice. I need more Provorovs and less Hayes on my team. |
