The Canes's and RB really need to find some consistency and lock down leads and stay out of the box. With their PP struggling and the PK not as strong as last year, its time to shore up these areas before it's a quick playoff exist.

Although Tripp Tracey often states this is the deepest roster he's seen, I totally disagree. Losing Nino and Vinny T are gigantic holes & in production that I sincerely hope they replace via the trade deadline. Deep is 4 solid centers strong ( last year), vs 3 solid centers this year. Should be interesting if they go after a Bo Horvat type of player that will want extended. Do they have enough cap room and assets to swing a deal ?

We also need D help and its likely one of the top 6 will go done to injury. Coglan and LaJoie are not ready to in my eyes. Joel Edmundson or Shane G would be welcome additions.

Additional insight and opinions welcome.....

Trade-wise, I think dealing for a 2C like Horvat now makes sense (meant to do an article on this but didn't get around to it). Kotkaniemi is probably a 3C at best long-term and there aren't necessarily any top-six center locks in their prospect pool. They're probably one of the few contenders who could have the assets to trade for him, then the cap room to re-sign him.

Wouldn't be shocked to see a smaller deal instead though, maybe for a 3LD.
