I'd hope for a little better than Holtz, a late 1st rounder and yet another long shot goalie who probably doesn't solve our long term problems in net. At least throw in that 6-4 russian d-man if that's the case.

What I'd really hope for would be Nemec. Sharks are really weak on defensive prospects.

NYI are going to offer a 1st round pick, Wahlstrom, and a prospect for Timo Meier??

The same NYI who have lost 5 in a row, 9 of their last 10, sitting 2 games over .500 and are 11th in the conference. Why on earth would they offer a 1st round pick that is most certainly going to be in the lottery. Even if it's Bedard-protected, this is still a strong draft. This makes no sense.

What you have also failed to mention in all of your Timo Meier rumours is that his qualifying offer will be $10M. Did you know that? So after NYI shells out this price for Meier, they now need to qualify him at $10M. This gives him great leverage to negotiate a very rich long-term deal. So he instantly becomes their highest paid player and messes up their cap structure. Has anyone thought about that here?

This has nothing to do with this article but I have to say the biggest drag on the game as as a whole is the useless Al star game. All it does is make fans lose interest in there teams for such a long break

The talking heads on TV probably can't decipher misinformation spread by agents. Ek is aware of these tricks and doesn't fall for that.

Lets hope that the rumor with the Devils falls through but it is the same type of underwhelming return that Grier got for Burns. Holtz is yet another defensive liability who has potential to score..just like 2 players they have: LeBanc and Gregor. He would be a major step down in the rebuild. Blackwood is just a swap of goalies on expiring contracts and he can't stay healthy.
The better play would be to trade Lebanc for Carey Price; similar to what the Canadiens did when they traded Weber for Dadonov..The Sharks could then use the LTIR relief to pay for Meier for the first 3 years nd then Vlasics contract expires and the remainder can continue to play Meier plus the dead cap money would be gone by then too..You'd have a better player by far with Meier than Holtz..a bird in the hand so to speak..
