Zak MacMillan: CBJ RoadTrip Conclusion — Pacific Northwest Division

So, here we are with the week off.

I would like to do a quick evaluation of the CBJ, please add comments:

Goalie: D- (Korpi C+, others F-)

Defense: F (can anyone name anyone who has played over ten games that has improved their game or showed they can be a great NHL d-man)

Forwards: C- (injuries, and no defense to help the attack). Johnny Hockey A, Laine A-, Jenner A+, Marchenko and Johnson A, Nyquist B+, everyone else sadly C and below)

Coaching Staff: C- (Season really started bad, but you can't coach half an AHL team to the playoffs)

GM: D--, GMJK's trades of two years ago for defensemen failed, Guldbranson UFA deal looks awful and going to get worse. Singing Johnny Hockey keeps it from an F.

I can understand your point, I do have a soft spot for coaches. Coaches take many unjustified hits for the mistakes of others and things beyond their control like injuries. Unless one is in the lockeroom and the ice every day with a team it is hard to really gauge how good or bad they are.

Certainly if a person is coaching in the NHL they have some qualifications for doing so, no matter what fans and pundits say. But it is hard not to give the CBJ coaching staff very bad marks for this season.
