Best part of the trip was Laf. He scored 2 huge goals and the shootout winner too. You can see the confidence in him starting to ooze a bit

They make an ointment for that.

Seriously though, he has been playing really well of late and the puck is going in. Crazy that was his first PPG!

Would love to see Motte back for the run. Also not worried about Goodrow, that guy is built for the playoffs.

Goodrow was a beast last season. His presence was especially missed in the playoffs. I don’t think he’s been bad this year, but he just seems to be making less of an impact. Need a true spark plug on that line.

Well last year he was being played all over the lineup, and when he did have go play bottom 6, he had actual hockey players to play with. Now that the top 3 lines are pretty much set in stone, hes been relegated to giving those guys breaks and the scarce 4th line shift.

They need to trade for Bjugstad and Motte desperately.

Rumor per Brooks is that ask for Motte is higher than the fourth rounder NY gave up last year for him

Larry Brooks tweeted within the past hour:
"Rangers have been in the mix, but told that the asking price is significantly higher than the 4th-rounder for which Drury got No. 64 from Vancouver at last year's deadline."

Brooks shortly later tweeted:
"With the fondness and yearning for Motte among Rangers fans, you'd think he was Pavel Buchnevich."

Elliotte Friedman's confirmation of word on Motte today:
"Tyler Motte will not play for OTT today due to trade-related reasons."

Edit: you just beat me to it, Jan, on Brooks word, while I was checking with another major Canada source besides Garrioch in Elliotte Friedman.

If we have to give up more than a 4th for Motte, than we need to look elsewhere.

Motte's defensive game contributions and qualifying offer of just $874,125 has expanded the interest & cost to acquire him. In addition to contenders, non contenders are also interested in him as a non-rental as are a few contenders, for purpose of inking him to a new contract starting next season.

Motte traded for Julien Gauthier and a 7th round pick - Trade conditions: Should the Rangers advance past the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the pick will improve to the lower of the Rangers’ or the @NHLJets 2023 sixth-round selection.

I think Gauthier will have a good career elsewhere, he just didn’t have a spot here.

Hes a really good skater for his size, but just didnt work here. Wish him well. Happy to get Motte back for someone that was expendable and very late pick. Hopefully, this time we keep him.

I agree about Lafferty or Bjugstad, Id personally go for which ever is the cheaper of the 2.

Let’s go. Good add. Hate to see Gauthier go but he doesn’t fit right now

I would have liked to avoid trading him because its great to have extra bodies available in case of injuries, however because of the cap it probably made it impossible to happen.

So they’ll still have roughly 1.1 to add I think right?

Nice pickup of Motte but its not enough. Kravtsov and a 3rd pick for Barbaschev so we can have a 4th line of Motte, Goodrow and Barbaschev! A formidable 4th line that will cause Dmen to run and put this team over thr top! Lets go Drury, finish this team!

Less it looks like, but assuming any trade they make will have to include a contract or 2, they could have around 2m in cap space. Bjugstad and Lafferty should both fit under the cap.
