Great to see the boys bounce back.. thought we might have a nice chance here.. still too many shots against… but we were able to capitalize on some nice chances
… we always seem to play Carolina tough also so maybe we can get 2 in a row… |

What is the point of this type of trade? Honest question as I cant wrap my head around it. Just a change up? Like a player better? |

With Ovi coming back, my hopes weren't too high for this game. I figured the Caps would be pumped for his return but MacLelland did the Ducks a solid by trading their second-best defenseman and a tough forward right before the game. That had to have thrown the Caps off their game a little bit. The Ducks will take it. |

No clue. I was excited when my phone buzzed saying the Ducks had made a trade. I thought some sucker GM gave GMPV a first for Klingberg, but nope, just this thing. |

These deals are pretty common, but usually mid-season, not at the deadline. A guy comes to the realization that he doesn’t have a path to the NHL with his current team and his agent calls the GM to try to get a change of scenery. Both of these guys had promising AHL seasons last year but have regressed this year.
As for the deadline, I’m not very optimistic this year. Any player that’s available is a consolation prize, ie. we lost out on Player A so let’s call Anaheim about Kulikov or Shattenkirk. I see bags of pucks and 4th round picks coming back. Maybe a mid-tier prospect or two that might make SD a little better at some point, but nothing that will get the fan base excited. |

Yep - I actually think Kulikov brings more than Klankburg -
I’d like to see Gibby & Comtois packaged somewhere back east - |

Why wouldn't Anaheim pick up Kapanen from waivers? Thoughts?

Ducks’ best chance to do something meaningful at the deadline is if Eklund is right and Ducks are the mystery team picking up part of Kane’s cap hit. Or selling cap space somewhere else. If they’re thinking about moving Gibson, that’s more likely a draft day deal.
On Kapanen, the bottom 8 teams in the league passed on him before St. Louis picked him up to backfill for Barbashev. He’s basically Sonny Milano or Danton Heiden on an overpriced deal - the kind of deals the Ducks are trying to move away from. We don’t know what their internal cap is, but have to believe that new deals for Terry and Z factor into decisions about picking up overpaid third liners on waivers. Same reason Comtois probably won’t be back next year. |
