"Those were two points even the biggest optimist would have conceded based on how things have gone."
This about me? hahah...can't be, I'm a realist, not an optimist. Realist me didnt think they would win that last night but knew it was possible, of course. This team can beat any team* when it plays sound hockey that's mostly void of dumb decisions, breakdowns and general slop.
*in a game...not saying 7 game series here. |

I think carter is fine at 4 th line rw. But he’s overpaid 2x regardless.
Don’t forget CO was down landescog and half their d as well. |

In typical Penguins fashion, I expect them to lose 5-0 tonight.
As I said yesterday, if Crosby leads this group to the playoffs, it will be one of the more remarkable feats of his career. |

Makar probably changes the game, but I'll give the Pens credit, they did everything right. Tight checking, detailed game. Blocking a ton of shots and Jarry played really well for a change.
Credit where credit is due, Carter had his best game of the season. Bottom 6 goals are rare for the Pens and it was the difference in the game. |

Makar missing is a massive loss for them, he's arguably best at the position in the league now (pretty sure the players voted this)..but also a massive loss is the Pens missing Petts and Petry.....toss Rutta and Kulikov in there as well. |

Big game to keep the season alive? I would bet on Carter to produce pretty much only behind Sid and Jake on this team. Maybe Tanger. |

Active sticks were a huge part too. Forwards picking up that trailer pass all night long. D-men were stepping up on the puck carrier, I don't know how many times MacK tried to pull up Kapenan style and his passes got poked away but it seemed like a lot and the one he got through he put it into Newhooks skates.

Right. I think I said Carter should play with Archibald and poe months ago. Although I like the lines how they were set up last night. |

That Crosby goal was sweet. I would say probably Paul Kariya had a better backhand (he constantly worked on one-timing his backhand), but that was a hell of a shot.
I miss Crosby doing Crosby things. Yes, I know he excels at the fundamentals of the game more than likely any player ever, but I miss the more dynamic plays. |

They broke down/analyzed the shot/goal on TNT, in the intermission, and I was surprised by the amount of flex he had on a back handy haha..wild stuff |

Do pros cut sticks down? Or are there’s made so the back bone is exactly positioned for their own wing span? Know some sticks the flex goes away pretty quick the more you cut it down. If he’s using a 100 and cutting it down and getting that flex that’s pretty intense. |

Perhaps because DeSmith is sick... Hallander recalled on emergency basis as well... Bet its for Jake, who was seen with a blood covered ice pack on his ankle last night, or Zucker... Both of which I have in fantasy playoffs ffs |

Anyone else think Jarry is NUTS for going for a goal 2x (and icing the puck) considering the tendencies of this team, in this situation, against the defending Stanley cup champions with 5 minutes left in the game? |

That's actually why I started using intermediate sticks. I like the whippy sticks, and when I'd by an 80-85 senior, I'd have to cut it down and it'd be more like a 95 so I started buying intermediate 75s and I don't even have to cut them down at all.
In the Show, players usually get huuuuuge shipments of sticks before the season starts, my guess is they are manufactured specifically to the players dimensions. When I was at the Lightning, I befriended the guy who ran the "equipment cage" which had leftover gear from all the guys who were traded or not resigned and there were boxes of like 200 sticks in there. I was using a lot of Teddy Purcell and Tyler Johnson twigs when I was working there. Purcell's curve was ridiculous, like the old Crazy Ovi. Also still rocking my Ryan Callahan RBK skates lol he was the only dude with skates small enough to fit me. Got them right before I bounced in 2016. After 7 years though they're finally starting to fall apart so I gotta snag some new wheels soon.

Up 2 goals? Nah, he's good. If it was only 1, he shouldn't be going for it.

It might not be true in this case because its an emergency basis, but sometimes when a team has a back-to-back, they will send the goalie who just played home or to their following game's city to rest. No point in dragging them to the city to sit and watch. |
