Brad May played over 1000 games in a much more physically demanding era.
Brad May for HHOF
Kris Letang is (or at least was) a very, VERY good player. |

Leave it to a Flyers fan to even suggest Brad May or that type of player is HOF worthy.

Brad May was a pretty good player too though. Not Letang good but even though he fought often and against players that were usually bigger than him he was a good bottom six player. Pretty much a perfect bottom six player for his era. Quite honestly as a student of the game and someone who digs much deeper into the game than the superstars stats and PPG!!! I would hope the hall of fame has some acknowledgment of these guys. Brad May fought Derek Boogaard while taking a regular shift. That should be a side note at any establishment that claims to keep impressive records of hockey. |

I still remain convinced that the reason the Pens did NOT win at least 2 more Cups was due to the inconsistency of MAF. He was a playoff disaster after the CUP win in 09. With the talent and youth on those teams for him to flame out in the playoffs was a damn shame. Yea Yea he was a nice guy and we all know how nice guys are. If not for Matt Murray..........as the soup nazi says NO CUPS FOR YOU. Too bad because he was the NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK in his draft year. On a team with the talent they had it should have turned out much better. I always ask this question "IF MAF was so good how come Team Canada never came calling. Answer They did not TRUST him!! |

Fleury had his ups and downs no doubt. But he was the biggest reason the Pens made the Final in 2008 and he was huge in 2009 when they did win it. He didn't get it done in 2010 but Halak stood on his head and I don't think it was on him. 2011 was the year Geno and Sid were hurt so throw that year out. 2012 he was terrible. That's the year that he deserved the criticism. 2013 they got to round 3 and Rask stood on his head and the Pens couldn't beat the Boston D. 2017 he came in finished off Columbus and was the biggest reason they beat Washington. All in all I think Fleury more than pulled his weight. No goalie - not Roy, Brodeur, Hasek, no one - is hot every year. His numbers speak for themselves. He is a Hall of Famer. |

Letang is the best defenseman in team history and there have been some great ones - Burroughs, Coffey, Murphy, Gonchar, Samuelsson. Just like Geno he has his warts but all in all I'll take him over about 97% of the defenseman in the league. He should have his number retired and go into the HOF. |

If you think about it. It’s harder for Brad May to reach 1000 games than a guy if Letangs ability. I really just remember him on Ana cup run. He wasn’t a passenger at all on that team. |

Yeah definitely wasn’t a passenger with his 1 assist in 18 games. Such an astute student of the game. He wasn’t a passenger. He just sucked ass. |

Also, how the hell do you not know who Brad May was. "May Day" may be the best call of all time, and I hate Rick Jeanneret's voice. |

I think his point was that May played a much more physical style in a much more physical era.
But yeah, he was pretty much cooked during that run. |

Definitely hard to play 1,000 games when you’re playing 9 minutes a night. |

So then you would agree that playing 1000 games can be done by some player who only deserves to play 9 minutes a night, correct?
I'm not arguing the value of Brad May...simply pointing out that playing 1000 games, in and of itself, is not a basis for a player's abilities.
Then again, I'm biased against Mr. Head Snap. Love Crosby, despise Letang. |
