The Sharks aren’t as far away as people think…IMO. They have drafted some good young players. They would love to move Logan, but that fan base will probably be patient.. I love going out there to games.
Name the good young players. Sharks need to completely tank for at least the next three years. Even without Jones and Burns, they still have the worst collection of contracts in the league. Karlsson, Vlasic, Hertl, Couture, Lebanc are all bad contracts that will keep them in cap hell.
Terrible take on the Sharks. They are a dumpster fire. Couture and Vlasic from age 35-40 with a $15M cap hit. Ugly. Cap hits for Burns and the Martin Jones buyout. Guys in their prime like Labanc, Lindblom, Barabanov, Kunin, Ferraro, Kahkonen - nothing special there. William Eklund has promise. Not much else. Likely bottom 5 team for awhile.
As for the Oilers, Bouchard has developed nicely. They developed Nurse. Klefbom was a very solid d-men until his career was halted by injuries. They developed Ethan Bear and turned him into Foegele. They developed Samurokov and turned him into Kostin. Broberg is 21 and on the roster already. Most of their top picks happened to be forwards.
Hawks can trade Seth Jones to the Sharks, that would be one helluva Blue Line...plus that contract fits nicely into their structure of bad contacts. - glennjpawlak22

EK - I love Kyle Okposo for the man he is, which is a genuine, caring human being with tremendous leadership skills. He was perfect for the Sabres as Captain, no doubt. Yet, he also remained silent as But-boy spoiled brat Eichel ruined the team with being a 3rd grader as Captain.
That said, he made $6M dollars while producing at L4 maybe stretch as a low grade L3 for the last 2, 3 even 4 years. He made good money, Sabres don't owe him anything as they both mutually won.

What is the media supposed to do? Ignore the individual and team success they had all season ( especially the last half) and act surprised whenever they win a playoff game?
I won’t go as far as to call them a team of destiny, and the Oilers certainly have their warts, but there has to be some expectation of them to build upon last years run to the Western Conference Final as they are a greatly improved team.

They’re definitely improved and fun to watch. Skinner is a young upgrade and Campbell is a solid backup. Ekholm has solidified the defense and Bouchard has really emerged. McDavid and Draisaitl overshadow everyone else but RNH, Hyman and Kane give them 5 top end forwards. That PP is pretty scary good.
