I remember watching kap take that hit and then struggle to get back up.
I won't ever forget that hit, either

Torts was lucky that 2004 Flyers team was missing Desjardins and had a bunch of other injured dmen once he faced them.

Yeah the injuries to the Flyers dmen in 2004 coupled with the unbelievable youth and skill of VL wasted a legitimate shot at the cup that year. The more devastating Flyers loss has to be the 1997 Cup loss via a sweep to the Redwings, completely unprepared for how Detroit would play them speaks volumes to the lack of scouting report and coaching prowess from the Flyers.

Still the most exciting 2 minutes in my sports watching life. Jim Jackson's commentary adds so much. Go back and listen to it with the CBC announcers, it just doesn't have the same feel.

I still get chills.

I do. And not even close. And you are telling ME you don't know whether or not it is the most exciting 2 minutes in MY sporting life? That is rather presumptuous don't you think?

Scouting in 97? They lost to a far better team. That was not a scouting issue. Flyers were good, Detroit was a dynasty.

The 04 is a much bigger loss as we were probably the best team if healthy. Hitch has said that was the best team he ever coached. They could have won that year.

I actually watched a video that had all Tyson's knockouts a few weeks ago. Definitely exciting. But it didn't have my hyperventilating and on my knees like I was watching that overtime.

I just don't have the personal rooting connection for Tyson that I have for the Flyers.

They just couldn't overcome all the devastating injuries. You know it was bad when they had Kapanen playing defense.

That wasnt the only run Tucker took during that shift. He also (I think its him) takes a run at LeClair on the side wall at around 1:01.

I hated that f#cker with a passion.

In hindsight the Wings were the way better team.

At the time tho... it was considered a competitive matchup but the Flyers just looked like beasts heading into that series. The way the team and the fanbase were immediately humbled... wow.

Their strategy was simple. Negate the Flyers physical forecheck by not being there to be hit.

One question that I wished Jason would ave asked Cam is why Cam decided for the older form of the neck surgery where they fuse the bones, versus the new surgery Eichel and more recently Rafabee had.

I would have asked that too. Disc fusion restricts range of motion. Not hockey, but Don Mattingly had the fusion surgery lower down his back and it basically wrecked his career. He could not generate the torque anymore. Not that the replacement was available then.

I would at least be curious. Especially since as far as I know it is a surgery that needs to be revisited over a period of time. From what I read that was part of the reason why Eichel didnt want the fusion surgery and fought so hard against it.

That personal connection and some skin in the game is what makes it. For example, watching an OT game 7 with teams that you have no connection to. Versus watching an OT game 7 with the team you root for playing. Big difference emotionally.
