Kyle Okposo is still playing??? - jmatchett383
He finished 11th in points on the team. He's "invaluable" as Ek said. Without him, they might have to sign someone else for league minimum to replace him. |

Well, I don't think you would call it playing, but yes he is still out there. |

There is a lot of interest around the league in Okposo? Huh? He's 35, broken down, coming off an 11-goal season where he collected a cool $6M. Maybe someone bring him in for depth at $1-2M. That's it.
Last week Buffalo was first in line to acquire Jack Campbell. Now its Hellebuyck? Do they think Hellebuyck will sign a long-term contract extension? What about Levi? If not, why pay the acquisition cost for a 1-year rental? Instead, seems far more logical that Hellebuyck gets traded to a franchise that would then extend him on a long-term deal. If I'm being a logical...a team like Carolina has Andersen and Raanta as UFAs. If they fall short of the Cup this spring, I could see Carolina using their war-chest of young assets to acquire Hellebuyck as the final missing piece. |

He’s a top goal?
What the **** is that?
Can’t remember the last time an 11 goal scorer was seen stealing games though. Maybe he stole your copy of NHL ‘20? |

As a jets fan I agree with you.
I see the oilers/canes/devils/kings as better fits for Helle. Possibly TO, Ott and pens as well.
But!! If the Sabres want to give winnipeg Ukka pekka and savoi, I’d take it

I think Kyle Okposo might actually be one of the LEAST interesting free agents. Some team might sign him to a 1M type 4th line deal but i genuinely doubt there is A LOT of interest. |

Yes, several other teams make logical sense too. But none of them will pay a premium without some sense that he'll sign an extension. That allows the Jets to extract a higher trade value. No different than NYI acquiring Horvat after an assurance that he'd sign an extension. Why would Buffalo sign Hellebuyck to a long-term deal with two young goalies in the fold. But it's been upgraded to an e4 now so inside sources msut be talking about it. |

sabres at the stage where they 100% need to make the playoffs next season.
they may feel it is worth it to acquire Hellebuyck for 1 year. Wouldn't be a bad move at all

Wow, I must be really out of touch because I figured Buffalo would just be happy to have finally survived that terrible millstone contract they signed with Okposo without having to buy it out. I'm pretty surprised they'd be considering what it would take to re-sign him. |

Okposos’s contribution to the Sabres is about the same significance as Bradley the Blogger’s contribution to this site. |

Sorry goalies just don’t have a ton of value. Late first rounder or good prospect - that’s it |

His play merits Buffalo walking away from him but the team likes him as a locker room dad. Kevyn adams is big on building back buffalos reputation and it might not be an awesome look to kick the captain to the curb. Odds are they keep him till dahlin is ready to take his captaincy next year. I mean if a 4th liner makes or breaks this team Buffalo has bigger problems than I thought. |

Well if those 4th liners cashed in on a lot of opportunities they missed this year, maybe we break are streak. Make him GM of Harbor Center or something. Time for Rousek |

Some form of front office position. Maybe director of player development. He absolutely, under no circumstances, should lace them up for another season. The pace of play has left him in the dust and his body won’t hold up in a playoff run.
I bet there is a gentlemen’s agreement that if he is not scooped up during the FA period, the Sabres offer him some type of office position |

2016 was such a good UFA season. One great signing after another. Those GMs earned their money that summer. |
