Man. Its not often you see the hockey community of fans saying good move for all teams involved in a multi team trade. We all knew LA had to make a move like this. Now they just need to secure Gavrikov and Korpi. Esp Gavrikov. |

To LAK: G Carter Hart - 3.979aav x 1yr (RFA)

2023 4th Round Pick (from Edmonton)
2023 6th Round Pick (from Ottawa)
To PHI: G Phoenix Copley - 1.5aav x 1yr (UFA)
D Brandt Clarke - ELC - (8th Overall Pick)
, C Alex Turcotte - ELC - (5th Overall Pick : Injury History Risk)

I really like both Hart and Allison, but I'd do this if I was Philly. I am HUGE on Brandt Clarke. No interest in Lias Anderson, and I wouldn't have given that crybaby his medal back. |

This is definitely an interesting trade proposal. At first glance it could look slighted towards one team, but this one is tricky.
You basically have 4 1st round assets going to Philly, but I wouldn't sleep on Allison or Kaplan. Andersson is pretty much a wash at this point with Turcotte becoming close to that in a few years.
As a Flyer fan I would hate to lose Hart, but as a business standpoint you have to accept this trade. Basically getting Clarke and a 1st for Hart...that's a bit too lopsided for the Flyers.

Hart? Sure. Solid. But Clarke and a first in addition to other prospects, picks and the backup goalie all for Hart and late picks and a few nobodies? This is an awful proposal. |

Yeah, the way I saw it was allowing the Kings to recoup value on what is likely a swing and miss in Turcotte (after all, out of sight, out of mind makes a GM’s tenure last longer), further raising Blake’s GM stock through the old found gold idea in Anderssen (turn a total freebie into better assets), all to ease the blow of losing Clarke. Additionally, Allison has a measure of goodwill legacy wise, and Kaplan I LOVE as a prospect. Reminds of Chris Stewart from the Avalanche years ago. Size. Toughness. Touch. And the picks to balance things out, for Briere accepting so much risk outside of Clarke, a 1st down the line when it’s likely to fall in the late 20s seemed fair.
Also it leaves guys like Kaliyev, Affallo, and other more in line with the current developmental curve in place. And that RD still has Doughty-Durzi-Roy-Spence and deeper down Otto and Sparkes. |

Andersson cost a 2nd. Wasn't a freebie. Chris Stewart had a single, solitary good season and then was a bottom six player the rest of his career. |

Stewart had a 28 goal season, eclipsed 15 goals 5x, and 10 goals 9x. If Kaplan were to realize that kind of production while being a big body and net front presence, that’s pretty solid considering only 54% of 3rd Round Draftees realize a single game in the show, let alone make a career of it.
And you’re spot on. My mistake. For some reason I thought he was a waiver claim in late 2022, not a waiver placement by the LA Front Office. My bad! |
