And doesn’t have as much opportunity to slide a pass to 34 - Big23Questions
Edit: not that he only gets pts cause Matthews but that he gets more pts playing with him. Marner is a real good offensive talent and would still get 75-85pts on any other team…decent teams.

Any player marner has played with they get points.
Its no coincidence JT and Matthews had career years for goals with marner.
Marner and matthews should have gotten no more than 9.5 - 9.8 on their 2nd deal
Dubas overpaid them.
However, willie simply isnt worth 10m

Matthews was scoring at superstar pace (pace over 82) with Kappenen and Johnsson and Hyman before. 34 doesn’t need 16 and 91 maybe less a handful of pts was just fine with the slugs he played with on the Isle.
Marner is 75-85pts on most other teams and 34 still gets 45-50 maybe not 60 but pretty close
Either way man - 16 is real good offensive player. So is 88. Leafs need to move the one who brings the biggest return to win NOW by getting at least 2 quality players. If that deal isn’t there then stand with both and run at the Cup.
I like 16 I like 88 - 16 is just not 4M better and I will never think he is.

Marner is much much better than your opinion of him. He was a finalist in the Selke last season and deservedly so. Nylander is worth whatever some team is willing to pay him. Sounds like the Leafs aren't willing to pay him $10M, maybe another team is. How much another player makes is not really relevant when talking about UFA's. It only makes a difference for RFA's especially those in arbitration.

JT has the same season regardless who he’s playing with.

And was killing it with Matthews this year if I recall. - jribout
Maybe its just me, but adding Bertuzzi and either Domi or Knies to the top six instead of Jarnkrok and Bunting will boost the offense significantly. I think the Leafs will do what they can to keep Nylander there. Not only that, with all the bullpoop that Matthews, Marner, JT and Nylander took in terms of cheapshots, hacks and cross-checks, it might be interesting when Reaves sings those Jabronis a lullaby
Haha ya man I hate stats and I think I’ve said that here a bunch - this 16/88 thing made me out this together and it pained me. Stats in team sports are not a great go to thing you know. They offer a perspective and need to be looked at but not weighed all that heavy to me

- my opinion of Marner is that he is a real good offensive player and better than Nylander. He’s a Star. If you thinking he’s better than that I think he’s worse? than your opinion??
- the awards by geeks mean absolutely nothing! Or do you think Erik Karlsson is a phenom on the defensive side of the game? The NHL BEST defender?
- every player is worth whatever a team will pay for them. Not just a Nylander thing.
- comparable are always relevant. The only thing is sometimes it’s in room comparable or league wide comparable. The agent and gm will choose whichever works their ask better
Who knows why he gets but for Nylander I would go in the 9-9.5M area with him. 9.5 on longer term closer to 9 on less.

Edit: I was looking for their points when wearing blue sweaters vs white while playing in a state that has red in their flags and rink running east west vs north south…oh and specifically on Tuesdays per 25mins of play

I agree with the offence thing. I think both those 2 (Bert Domi) play the perfect way to roll with the top 2 lines. They go to the net dig play with pace and agitate. Domi doesn’t necessarily smoke guys but he is a disturber man and that will be great playing with those top players. He’s the stink for the flies like Bert and they can both make plays while doing so
