Never watched much of the French broadcasts growing up, but when I moved to Ontario to go to University, the only way I was able to watchh Habs games was on RC French broadcasts (before steaming, and even, the internet was a thing).
I remember watching some of those '93 cup games in French.
Years later, would also watch him on RDS when I moved to Toronto, again as the only place you could regularly see Habs games outside of Quebec/East.
I don't find him particularly insightful, but the interview is not really about his views, but those of Lapointe.
As for Yvon Pednault, I remember him first from his days as the colour commentator on Radio-Canada radio broadcasts with Claude Quenville, back in the 80s before moving to the TV side. He had a way of commenting on bad plays, by the Habs or the opposition, that would make me laugh. Was the only way to catch Habs games that weren't on TV in French back then (and that was around half or more of their games). I've cut back on sports media of all kinds (life got busy) but I have fond memories of his days at Radio-Canada and RDS.
I get that it might sound like a Captain Obvious quote, but I was saying that considering that Pierre can get quite emotional at times. I'm sure if I hear him talk about Yvon he'll make me tear up too lol.
