We will see if this team can keep up their newly found defensive abilities against Panarin and co. Husso in net. He did well last outing and the net is his. I am thinking that once his child was born that his spirits were lifted.

And potentially stress relieved. Sometimes the first kid really stresses people out during the wait. And then again at 2. And then again at 5. And then again, and again, well you get it.

I am very interested in tonight’s game. I feel like Compher and Gostisbehere have had a chance to settle in and shine a bit more. I’d like to see J.T. Center multiple lines even with the call up. Just feels like he gets a lot out of teammates. Hoping Larkin is back soon, but love watching the new guy

Kind of amusing all the negative comments about Kane on Hockeybuzz... right AFTER he chose Detroit and got signed. Didn't see hardly any negative comments until he chose Detroit. The Toronto homers and Florida fans especially are very quick to say Kane is washed up. We'll see. At this point I'd love for them eat crow.

Really hope Husso has his head on straight tonight. Can't afford any more of his soft goals. He's going to have to be solid to give the Wings a chance to win. Wings gotta stay out of the of the box as NY PP is humming along at 32%. Gotta play fast and play smart or this game will be over quick. Shesterkin is in goal tonight and they are getting Fox back too.

It's interesting how quickly things turned. The turds at that Deadspin rag were doing a Kane watch, only to completely change their tune once he signed with Detroit. Somehow, he went from being in demand, to being someone who has no business even attempting a comeback and he shouldn't even be near an ice rink.

I did notice the quick change for the Toronto fans. A few days ago, they were giddy at the prospect of getting him, but now they think he couldn't make the Tallahassee Wart Hogs junior team. Personally, I think it's funny that Toronto fans still think their problem is with the forwards. They can't fathom the idea that they may need an NHL capable defenseman.

Agree with you on Toronto. They have two very good offensive lines and nothing else. Gee... I wonder why they can't win in the playoffs. Forty Million dollars in 4 players is insane for any NHL organization. If any of those top 4 forwards (Marner, Mattews, Tavares, Nylander) go down to injury they won't even make the playoffs.

Not too in the know about your team these days, apart from the absent Larkin. But, I believe you are probably faster than us, overall. That will be the key to the game, IMO. Shesty in net, but Quick is no slouch these days anyway. And we will likely get a boost out of getting Foxy back. I think Detroit's only real shot is an aggressive forecheck. That has been the constant in each of our losses so far. Lots of pressure and force turnovers.

Hoping for an entertaining game. Good luck!!

It has been an insane turn of events. It went from “Kane watch” to “nobody gets past this surgery”. Even Yzerman got slapped with that one and pointed to Andy Murray (acknowledging it is a different sport) but I rolled my eyes for him. Had the signing worked for these other teams it would be a completely different conversation. Toronto needs to be successful and not lose Nylander. Anything that looks like it potentially lessens that risk is going to be ripped to shreds. I don’t think anyone views Detroit as a “threat”, but this is a fairly clear game of “you got what I wanted”. I didn’t think we’d see Kane as a Red Wing. I was wrong. Now, he has to get past an abbreviated training camp and into a game. That’s a steep hill but he looks committed to the climb

I’ll cover this later, too much cool hockey stuff to focus on. Iger did a town hall and announced that ESPN will be DTC (Direct to Consumer or streaming) by 2025. That is a bit of a kick the can down the road. The Hulu merger with D+ is proving a bit more complicated, and the NBA contract is going to dominate how ESPN moves forward. Most of you know that Bally has said that after 2024 MLB, they are closing the doors. There was a push for a Fubu partnership that could possibly have taken over but not hearing about that as much.

Listening to Rangers broadcast and apparently both hits from behind were the fault of Red Wing players as Ghost and Cat should have known they were about to be hit...... and been more aware....

Loved the Kane press interview. Loved his comments about how he kept coming back to the wings. I think he was sincere. The guy is loaded, and is coming back to play because he loves to play. Not for $$.

Did you notice the bottle he was drinking? I kept on trying to see the label. Looked like a fancy Bud light bottle😂! Probably was some primo bottled water, though😂😂
