Best part of the PLD trade is that the Jets got a winger in Villardi that is out scoring Laine. Many in Winnipeg deemed Laine to be a “generational goal scorer”. It seems that any and all talk about Laine has disappeared everywhere in the NHL including Columbus.

What do you make of Laine now after witnessing him for a few seasons? I always thought he was good when Jets were piling on the goals. Not very good, when the Jets needed a big goal to tie or win.

Just some thoughts….

Hi Ultimate,

IMO, and only IMO, Laine can't seem to beat the injury bug, and that's what holds him back from being a great player. Yeah, maybe he turns the puck over too much but with the CBJ every turnover ends up in our net, and that's not his fault.

If he could ever settle in for a full season with a good center and other winger I think he could be a great, great player. But at this point it is hard to see if that will ever happen.

Also, I am so glad you got ride of PLD. He could have been a great player for both teams, but he puked on Columbus, and did the same to the Jets. Maybe one day he will mature enough to become the player the CBJ thought he could be, but sadly I doubt he will. Personally I think the CBJ fleeced the Jets with the trade, if Roslovic would play up to his potential for a full season it would be an absolute steal.

Hey Zak - that trade thread (PLD-Laine/Roslovic) isn't done yet. Let's see what we get from trading Laine and Roslovic, either at the TDL or this summer.
