This guy is getting the team to play better in certain areas. You cant expect miracles with the lack of high end talent. Hold still at the deadline unless you can somehow unload some dead wood, and let Roy build the team the way he sees fit.

Yes. Even if in they unexpectedly get into the playoffs, they aren't going anywhere. They should be sellers.

I think Lou still wanted to retain the owner's confidence that this was still a solid roster capable of a playoff run. It's been three years since the semifinal appearance and most teams have improved ahead of them. They are a better version of The Penguins. Until the owner loses confidence this will stay put.

Not much to realistically sell but yeah agreed. Won’t happen with Lou though so we can only hope the team somehow finds their game and starts winning consistently. Hope for some entertainment before someone finally realizes we’ve been doing the wrong thing for a while.

The elephant in the room becomes, if the isles miss the playoffs does ownership look for a new GM. I get the history and overall respect for Lou Lam, but if they dont make the playoffs with him adding and subtracting from the roster for 4-5 years now, does that put the onus on Lou? I think it does.

20-21 ECF roster included Jordan Eberle and Nick Leddy both of whom contributed to the isles success. You can say they added Horvats pts, but net net, they lost pt production with Bailey and Beauvillier. Without actually looking, it appears the isles have less pt production now vs 2020-2021 ECF roster

Anders Lee is a liability at this point with his salary vs his pt production. Hes being paid like a 1B first liner and hes producing 3rd line numbers

I mean if the coach, who absolutely needed to be fired, was let go and problems still persisted....the main problem wasn't the coach. At some point you have to look to the front office's construction of the roster as the issue and that opens Lou up to a lot of questions.

Overall im a fan of the Lou hiring, but i have to agree with you, at some point you must look at the person who made the failed roster. I think the isles needed a Boychuck type vet on the backend, and a Parise type vet as well. Im growing more and more frustrated with Anders Lee, as he was signed to be a first liner, and he just doesn't have it. His skating is Trent Hunter all over again, and todays game is all about speed. Im also, done with the Wahlstrom experiment. MDC 2.0 (with more skill)

Lee is a nice guy and good Islander, but giving Lee 7 years was not going to end well. He should have gotten no more than 5.

I like Lou, I don't hate the guy at all. He did a lot of good in legitimizing the Islanders and making them competitive. The two conference final runs were my personal best years as a fan and there's a lot to be said for that. He isn't afraid to make bold moves, which is the complete opposite of what Snow did in his time here.

But I think he failed when it came time to maybe consider stepping back and retooling for a year or two and now the future is looking pretty bleak. Maybe ownership gave him an edict to keep the team competitive at all costs for the first few years at UBS, but nobody will ever know that. There's no ill-will towards the guy but if they don't get it together ASAP and start stringing together some wins then, after firing Lambert, the blame is going to rest squarely on Lou's shoulders.

Lee is a nice guy and good Islander, but giving Lee 7 years was not going to end well. He should have gotten no more than 5.

He shoulda been traded at the draft as he overachieved in his contract year (what'd ya know). It should have been glaring to all involved that Anders skating is not in line with Barzal, therefor not a good match. Feelings aside, im sure hes a great guy, but he's not adding 7 million worth to this club

I suspect ownership did want him to push all the chips in with the new arena and I understand that mindset, but owners aren't going to change (funny enough, apparently some European businessman just bought a minority stake in the Isles though) so it's obvious where the change will happen, if they decide to make one.

Still has not gotten these guy, to play with heart every night , last 2 game the first 2 periods they played like they dont care then 3rd period they decide to play not gonna work.
The way they played against Tampa that night was great

Having a little knowledge of real estate, i wouldnt be surprised to see the isles ownership flip the team and make money from the UBS build.

Lou got to run 3 teams and won 3 Cups. Lou gave a lot to the NHL and got back a lot. It's time for Lou to do the right thing and retire.
