Hains: In Hainsight: Consistency Issues Lead to Shootout Loss
The Canadiens fought hard against the Lightning last night, but in the end, they had to concede the win in the shootout. - Karine Hains
I think most people would have been happy if you told them they would collect 2 out of 4 points in Florida (from a performance perspective).
They were surprisingly in both games, but the high number of 1 goal losses (20-ish) this year for the Habs really speaks to a lack of secondary scoring.

Unless Hughes uses it with a Jake Allen trade before TDL, he can retain some $$ with Armia, up to half. So we will see. If not before TDL, I would expect a trade in the off season if he feels the need to free up a spot. Otherwise, I dont mind him on this team for next season. |

thanks Karine!
yeah, consistency can especially become an issue during a rebuild when you're playing against better and more experienced teams night after night. it's part of the process. despite the losses I'm still very satisfied with the effort the habs gave during these last two games, while many were expecting them to simply get destroyed. |

If Armia is playing with the effort he has shown the last 3+months, I am on board for another season. He is good on the PK, defensive coverage, and can score the occasional goal.
He is not like a Hoffman, who had zero role or purpose if not scoring, at least Armia has value in other ways.

agreed, and Armia seems to be an all-around better example to follow as a pro for the younger guys, compared to Mike Hoffman lol. |

Secondary scoring is a huge problem, they went with their 3 best forwards on the same line. There is not much after that. Maybe Dach stays healthy next season or they look at what they could do to bring in somebody who would be ready to step in if he goes down once again. Monahan is gone now and I think Newhook is better on the wing.
They also gave too many goals this season. Like way too many goals.
If you have to score 4 or 5 goals to win a game, you cant just look at your forwards and the goals they have to score
They need to keep the puck out of their own net |

I think this was definitely to be expected with such a young group of guys on the backend who are still learning the ropes and trying to adjust their play at the NHL level.

he's getting a statue in front of the Bell centre, to commemorate how his ice time has completely ruined a young man's career.

I know some people think they should let the kids play™️ but you also need to win and collect points (it is the NHL) and have guys who won't make mistakes that the kids will make. Because if you let the kids play™️ and all they do is (frank) up and lose, and then they're worth nothing when they stop being kids. |

en fait là c'est surtout au DG de faire son travail et de colmater les brèches avant le début de chaque saison |
|

Habs are further to the goal then in years past. Team still doesn't have enough offense, but the base is there for a core. Still need a star up front though. But there are more guys listed below that dont make me want to throw myself into a chasm than at any point in my fandom!
Newhook
Suzuki
Matheson(?)
Slafkovsky
Caulfield

what I learned from here is that the coach is always wrong and anybody who post here has everything figured out
cause its easy
a chicken could do the job
That being said, I dont expect much if they do trade Pearson at TDL, but a 5th round pick would be better than a bowl of crap |

yup, 100%. also the exposure to more high-pressure situations doesn't need to happen during their very first NHL games, every player is different, and the learning curves can vary a lot as well.

bah, everyone is entitled to their own opinion
besides this wouldn't be the first time that fans in MTL start freaking out about management and coaching decisions, it's part of the habs fan DNA.
