I really like how him and Gorton handle the press conferences, they aren't giving away any state secrets but you can tell they have a plan in mind and know where they're heading with this.

good for him.

I wonder if the habs will have him stick around for player development purposes, maybe it's something he'd be good at.

We'll see ... he was a good teammate apparently but there was clearly no longer room for him in the lineup.

With all the talented young guys knocking on the doors of the NHL, I think the hype next camp will be through the roof!

with the injuries I think his NHL days were counted. he was never an elite talent but still I'd never scoff at anyone who played almost 300 games in the league.

really happy with that decision. I don't think he was hired just to help develop the team, what happens remains to be seen but he's there to win.

What a difference a few years make ... a few years ago all we had to look forward to were old tired poneys picked up from waivers during the summer.

the boss said he wants to add talent upfront, but also size.

Regardless of our record, a lot of good things came out of this season.

#1 - For me it's Slaf becoming a useful NHL player, he no longer looks like a deer caught in the headlights. He's more solid on his skates and has adjusted to the speed of the game. We now have a true 1st line, something we haven't have had in ages.

#2 - Our D is going to look very good soon.

We still have a lot of things to work on (ie. defensive play, 2nd line, etc) but we're clearly heading in the right direction.

Perfect! ... it's clearly a need.

We have been involved in a ton of games with a 1 goal difference ... getting secondary scoring could do wonders for our place in the standings next year.

agreed,
I would add Suzuki. he took a big step this year. that was needed.

Yup. He looked great.

And despite everything, shoulder operation and all, I think we've seen a nice evolution in Caufield's game.

Almost finished 30 goals despite everything. He'll score more than that next year for sure but the rest of his game will remain elevated. Our first line is doing fine.
