Worse part is when they realize how upset you are, and they try to comfort you.

If you watch that Probert-Berube fight I linked in the last thread, that knockout uppercut that Probert threw is sick. That punch would have knocked Wilson, Reaver, or Rempe out cold for sure. I don't think any of our active tough guys could absorb that punch.

Probert was a troubled man, but he was an fisticuffs machine. A coke-fueled berserker that must have felt like the final boss of hockey fights. Berube is lucky his head is still attached to his shoulders.

I think we sensationalize events from the past like somehow people were tougher, and could handle more abuse.

I think the only thing that’s changed, is that we’ve become less tolerant of abusive behaviour. Call it “woke” or whatever, I call it progress.

It’s a horrible thing that happened to a lot of NHL fighters from the 90’s early 2000’s.
