Maybe someone could confirm this rumor. Maro rossi possibly be on the trade market from the Minnesota wild.? Is so would the 20th Tampa's and the 54th get it done? I know he is a small player and the Hawks have enough of those type of players. - Scott1977
From last blog. Wild will be aiming for a playoff spot next season. So if a young player is in play, it will be for a roster player that provides immediate help and fills a need, not a couple of crap shoot draft picks which may or may not help them 3 or 4 years down the road. No trade match between Chicago/Minnesota there IMO. |

When a couple of posters were referring to “the Russian Hedman” I thought they meant Silayev. But it was in reference to Levshunov, who would be more accurately be called the Belarusian Hedman. Silayev may be considered “The better skating Russian Chara”. |

I read on PHR that he’s not Guerin’s type of player. By the way, the Oilers Bouchard is everything that Toronto’s Reilly is and everything Rielly isn’t. |

I think sudden arrival of a giant with such great ability of skating like a normal sized human is what started his rise to prominence.
You select him and you get a raw player but one who is so comfortable in his movemnets and although he is still learning the position, every time there is a collision it has come with the same type of notice and Russian fan response, it is like forward Matt Rempe when the Rangers throw his line out and you see it coming...
I think the peatls started faling off the Russian rose as the season progressed and his lack of detail showed the deficiets in playing his defense position.
And all the big jumps into the attack lessened; i bet they bridled him some.
As far as value as an NHL, well it is clear that not many giant humans can play the game and with time, lmuch will improve, and his size will be used to encourage tghe opposition to think a bit.
Anton Silayev will also have to survive culture change, language issues, smaller ice and is going to need lots of coaches to aid in his hockey education here.
I am fairly certain that Dean, head coach Luke Richardson, and the other older defenseman have all been taxed to aid the year for Korchinski.
How do you build the gane of a young Russian unless he is fluent in English?
Oh, right, he can stay there until he grows more game.
and that again circles around to team building having your prospects developing together, and growing togetehr in the system.
I don't doubt some teram may love this guy and see him as the diamond of the choices of rearguards.
But I think he stays on the board longer than many in the top ten, unless osme team sees more than a Chara clone.

Sometimes the playoffs just deflate teams at some point.
It is niot like they don't know what is at stake.
Anyway you look at it, this was a hugely successful 16 months for their hockey team.
They take the guy sitting on the right at the TNT intermission report away from Biz, Liam, and Anson Carter, and he manages to establish a style of play, work ethic and plan for success.
How many times does at tram bring in a coach and the team continues to perform without a significant bump?
They have a great future for the next years and i am happy for them. |

Canucks as good as they were this season just weren't as talented at the top end or as deep as Edmonton right now. I know they had their 3rd string goalie, but he wasn't the problem. Canucks got outplayed for too much of that series. Outshot by almost 50% margin at 5v5 and couldn't afford to take a penalty because of the Edmonton powerplay unit being pretty effective. They made a good series of it and nearly stunned the Oilers. |

This has got buyer beware written all over it for me.
Oilers are going to regret not giving him a big contract. He's actually gotten better on both ends of the ice.

I do agree for this season what a great story for the Canucks and their fans. In the beginning of the season i had said the reason i liked our rebuild was because there was no chance we were going to be a pretender. Impressed with them winning a playoff series, even taking the Oilers to 7 games. But now here they are just paid Petter have $27 mil tied up in 3 players, have to sign Hronek, so $35 mil tied up in 4 players? Lindholm walks? I think things get so much harder for the front office of the Canucks starting tomorrow. |

I don’t think the Oilers had the ability to give him a long term contract due to the cap. Not to mention up until last year, he hadn’t shown that he was worth a long term contract. It’s not like they’d be able to sign him long term for the number he is at now. |

They did not have the space, When Bouchard becomes an RFA with ARB rights, Edmonton will have a projected $40 mil. In cap space, with Draisaitl potentially becoming a UFA. I am sure the Oilers will be able to figure it out like they figured out how to sign him and keep under the cap the last contract. |

Does Vancouver win that series if Demko wasn't hurt? And does the Oiler run end against Dallas? |

IMO Dallas has by far the better goaltender, so they advance to the finals.

Vancouver didn’t lose because of goaltending, they seemed to run out of gas more than anything. But it’s possible they would have played more confidently in front of him? Dallas are playing hard hockey and have been able to shut down some very good players. I’ll give the edge to Dallas but it should be a great series to watch. Dallas in 6. |

I agree, Dallas will win out. They are a complete team, something the Oil is far from.

I read an article about signing Bouchard last year and in it it talked about when he took over the 1st unit PP mid/late season he became a point per game player. Continued in the playoffs last year. So there were signs of him becoming this.
Sure they had cap space they just needed to bite the bullet and trade the $5 million dollar goalie away.
I see LA talk about them getting a deal done in the future, so Bouchard and Draisaitl contracts come due at the same time? $22 mil total to keep both?
So much for having any depth.
