Jeremy Laura: Wings trade Andrew Gibson to Nashville for Jesse Kiiskenin and a 2nd round

Used the 2nd to dump Walman

A quick search on Kiiskinen seems intriguing and Gibson's value is theoretically replaced with the second round pick in this year's draft. This year's pick will obviously be a year behind Gibson in development but it appears on the surface to me that they won the trade from an asset-management perspective. I am guessing they must have really liked Kiiskinen as a prospect as well and may have been hoping he was still available when they picked at #73. His profile sounds like an Yzerman type of prospect when they talk about him having a motor that doesn't seem to stop.

Walman is not that great for one and really took a step back last year. But it could be logjam related and they may find his style redundant if the sign Ghost and have Edvinsson in the lineup as well.

This seems odd on the surface but must be part of setting up for a bigger move of some sort.

I just read somewhere that the future considerations may end up being San Jose retaining salary in an upcoming Detroit trade for a significant player. That actually seems to make some sense.
