No on Trouba.... all in favor of a p.o.s. on this team, just a serviceable one not paid far too much....

Don’t necessarily want Trouba but if it’s something like Holl for Trouba straight up I’d be okay with it.

That’s probably what would have to happen. I think most of us are skeptical that it’s a deal that could get done but it would feel better to see a bad contract moved in return

Holl and a 2nd for Trouba 2 million retained. We interested?

Trouba was intriguing when he was in Winnipeg, but not so much now. The $8M salary cap hit is too much, especially when there are better players out there at that price. I think he's gone downhill since he went to the Rangers. Perhaps, if they take Holl and add Kappo, my mind might change. Obviously, it's not an even up trade, but there are other trade options to move from Detroit.

Maybe we can cash in on the future considerations part of the SJS trade and have them retain 2M of Trouba as a third party after we also send Holl over full cap hit to NYR.

I wouldn't be opposed to Trouba for 2 years given a very minimal return and 50% salary retention by NY.

No. Not adding draft capital for Trouba.

Holl for Trouba 1 for 1 would be the best case then. They ain’t including Kakko like the dude mentioned. Rangers would retain but need a pick back for that. Maybe a 3rd. Meet in the middle

Trouba had a bad ankle since Februaryish, i think it was, which contributed to his lackluster play. One thing he is is intimidating which teams need, want

I think that’s what makes the most sense as well with NYR potentially buying out Holl. Rangers obviously want cap space and have young guys to fill in the blue line. The cap hit and M-NTC put the Rangers in a no leverage spot imo. Win win for both teams as Detroit gets out of a bad deal while getting an overpaid but serviceable player. NYR gets significant cap relief.

Ekblad is on the market. He was a Detroit fan in his youth and hated Toronto. That is good enough for me!

But I am not opposed to a Holl for Trouba trade.

Just load up the entire right side.

Holl for Trouba
Berggren and a 2nd for Ekblad
Send Petry to GR so he retires

Holl is a replacement level player making $3.4 million AAV for the next two years. Total overpay ~$2.5m

Trouba is a No. 4/No. 5 caliber guy making $8 million AAV for the next two years. Total overpay ~$5m.

Trouba is obviously the better player but both contracts are awful and I'm not sure a 1:1 swap of Holl for Trouba is an improvement from a roster construction perspective.

Good point, maybe they'll simply take Holl and his contract

I think Holl would definitely get bought out by the rangers

Listen, ANYTHING that gets rid of Holl, I'd consider. Trouba's a beast. WAY too expensive, for sure (you've all captured that well), so there's have to be some cheetah-flips to get this done.... Looks like he's got 2yrs left (through 25-26), so retention would be a hard selling point.....BUT, Trouba-Train at $m for 2yrs? Kind of a dumb question, right?

On Stammer, I'm not wholly sold, I think we need to get younger and a bit more defensive as a whole. He's got about a 78% D-zone start rate, so he's not too bad, I reckon. My concern is when is he going to slow down (I like the guy, Feds....and I see your points in the previous post....) and who *could* he hold back from being called up, his TA/GA ratio is kinda high (gives it up twice as often as he takes it away....), but he IS intriguing. Would he take a hometown discount to play here AND under The Captain? And, is this the best allocation of cap space in the long run (WORLDS better than Holl, Copp, etc...!!!)?

Yep and then NYR can make a play at Stamkos.

Trouba was playing hurt much of last season; still a very solid 2nd pairing Dman IF healthy. Total overpay~$3.5m; approximately Holl's AAV.

I would rather Ekblad, but then Holl would have to be bought out.
Berggren and a 2nd, he is only signed for 1 more year and maybe he waives his NMC for Detroit as he is from Windsor and grew up a Wing lover! His 12 team no-trade list does not start till Monday.
