RD Timothy Liljegren is supposed to be available. $3M x 2. Give them a second and waive Holl if your not gonna use him. TML is over the cap too.

Utah RD Soderstrom isn’t negotiating. Sounds like he wants a better opportunity. There are a couple out there. Soderstrom is a risk but potentially a low cost one.

Why should this team be in the business, this rebuilding team by the way. Be in the business of giving up assets for other teams to take on our bad contracts.

It might be worth it because this team can't draft past the first round worth a damn...

Yzerman needs to be all over that.

Ok, that’s where I am. Sounds like it’s going public. If they want JB or JV this seems like a possible gem.

Soderstrom doesn't need to negotiate anything. He has no arb rights. He was given a qualifying offer. If he doesn't like it then he can sit out the season and do it all again next year.

He's basically assured a full time spot next season if he just signs the offer. Prove that you are legit and then ask for a raise.

There is nothing real special to me. Appears to be Kindl 2.0.

But has the potential to be better than Holl and definitely cheaper.

The idea is buying low on a player that once had great potential. But all hail cooleus and his scouting.

Soda may be the pop our D needs down the road (I HAD to do it, guys.....impulse control is zero sometimes.....). Between him & Lilly from TOR, maybe a gem could rise. Waive Holl and pay for both (not sure what Lilly's being paid.....)? If not, at least for the Fayho kid (did it again......).... Our D is in shambles, so a low-cost move can't be much worse than what we have now (paying someone $3m/yr to keep a seat warm?!?!?!), and sitting around waiting when a potential player's seemingly available.....wth have we got to lose (other than a press box usher and on-ice pylon)?

Interesting developments & opportunities. Just spit-ballin'......

EDIT: We do have a d-man log-jam, but with a trade & sweetener & a waiver, maybe we could open some space.

That’s the decision to be made. Is he ready enough to move on that he’d rather sit out? We’ve only seen a handful of players make it to camp or beyond but it may be an opportunity to get to an underused asset. That was the only point. It’s just July pondering but that one was an interesting name. In particular that was the first year I started writing so he was on some old lists. A nice trip down memory lane.

Could also go the hip resurfacing route again and see about Klingberg.

To do what? Drive the bus? Maybe be a cone in defensive drills?

To play hockey? We going to act like he wouldn’t be useful if his hip is good?

I mean, maybe.... Would be an interesting thing to watch, but is his age and wear not degrading his game? May be serviceable, but then we look at what we already have on the d-line, he might be able to do something (hold a spot & rotate w/Johansson?).... I've watched his play drop precipitously over the past few years, just a concern. Way back when I was in favour of him being brought it, though...for sure. Now, I just think he'd be more of a pylon vs a viable contributor. COULD be wrong (won't be the 1st time, that's for sure........)....

Well he’s a RD and he’d be eligible for a bonus incentive deal. It’s more of the low risk type move that might work
