Great addition...if he is healthy

I am more curious to see how the Hawaiian Tropic Top 4 F will respond to the in your face style Berube will want them to play.

At 34, expected to play the biggest role of his life, I doubt he stays healthy.

I also doubt he plays all 6 years. Tanev island will be a real thing, just like Muzzin was before him.

Pesce (29 years old) was the #1 option to play the role they expect of Tanev. They missed the boat on that wasting money on Liljegren + Hakanpaa (whom I like but not if his knee is wrecked) instead.

Tanev is an improvement but not the solution. Hopefully, Berube realizes this and has 3 pairings playing 20 min each to balance the load. But in St. Louis, he had Pietrangelo playing 25+ minutes a game in the playoffs with Parayko and Bouwmeester doing almost the same. Tanev won't survive that.

Pretty fair, realistic and balanced actually.

If I was being pessimistic, I'd say he's going to play 14 games and have career ending hip surgery like Klingberg had.

I thought the best fit was Jake Gardiner when they both posted 52 point seasons.

34 will be all good. He plays hard and is physical on the wall - fantastic 2way centre.

JT works hard and is a coach-able vet (at least that what it appears)

I worry for the other 2.

Well, I'm not buying a season ticket until Phil "the thrill" Kessel comes back.

They will come around.
Marner used to be fiesty in the playoffs blocking shots etc. He'll come back around.

curious to see if they will sign him this summer or risk going into the season with Marner being UFA next summer and risk losing him for nothing with his NMC

I just don't accept your take on Pesce as we do not know if he rejected the Leafs or if the Leafs made any attempt to sign him.
or cap issue and could not sign him.

I would never describe either 16/88 as
feisty. I’m sure they’ve blocked some shots - but never feisty.

Best of the rest

Alexander Barabanov
Cal Clutterbuck
Nick Cousins
Denis Gurianov
Mike Hoffman
Tyler Johnson
Dominik Kubalik
Kevin Labanc
Alexander Nylander
Kyle Okposo
Max Pacioretty
Tanner Pearson
Daniel Sprong
James van Riemsdyk
Jakub Vrana
Blake Wheeler
Kailer Yamamoto
Filip Zadina

Pearson could be a solid 4th line LW for cheap
Hampered by injuries in recent years
Canucks medical staff botched things

Zadina would be a great pick up, he promised to fill the net against MTL and Ottawa for passing on him at the draft.

Marner can set a way over the top price and refuse to be traded. So unless the leafs overpay him letting him walk is their only option.

for some reason, people don't seem understand that.
you do get his cap to spend .
granted the incoming player(s) may not be as good as Marner
but that's how the Leafs turns.
