Dubas was the mistake. Guy thought he was gonna revolutionize the game and was the smartest in the room. Yeah that worked out real well. Left our prospect pool depleted and the draft puck cupboard bare.

Have to admit Tre hasnt done that bad so far given the circumstances.

And first. Suck it.

When a GM is let go, the bold is always seems to be said after they leave.

Small typo in first paragraph, Mike.

I've added the bold:

Hindsight is always 20/20 and in an excerpt of a new book by The Athletic’s Craig Custance, former Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas admitted that the most critical error the he made during his six-season tenure in Toronto was NOT being proactive in locking up the club’s young core group in his first season.

He did some good moves, some bad ones.... I'd call it "meh" at best so far.

He has yet to make a significant decision about the team's future though so it's hard to form an opinion on his work.

So Dubas is a (frank)ing wussy? Ok, cool. Nice to know. Wouldn't have guessed. Next the book will tell me he only hires his guys?!

His 2023 offseason was a clusterfrank.

Bertuzzi was absolute poop in the first half, meh in the 2nd half. Not worth the money.

Klingberg. ha ha ha ha ha.

Domi: this one was good.

Kampf. too much for what he provides.

Reaves: good lord, what a stupid signing.

I'm guessing (or at least hoping) that he was given multiple years to put his stamp on the team.

The last thing I would want is a new guy coming in and trying to make an immediate impact.

Pretty sure an approach like that would do more harm than good (cough Burkie cough cough).

Yeah that has to rank somewhere on the list of worst UFA days ever. Derpluzzi and Reaves in particular were inexplicable moves.

Well Bertuzzi looked like a good signing at first... and the term made it very worth it... so I'm considering this one as "decent" at least.

The rest is bang on.

When I would go to games in the first half of the season, I would watch what he was doing without the puck.

It was baffling. Reminded me of coaching 8 year olds - I didn't know what wing he was playing. He was literally bumping into his teammates.

It was hilarious...if you were cheering for the other team.

In defense of Dubas I think it was the pandemic that caused the most damage to the Leafs.

Hopefully he learned his lesson. Have been underwhelmed with him in PIT and I liked him as the hire. He might be hamstrung with FSG too.

From the last blog:

youre right. he was the #1 at the time of signing
- drexel

You sure Drex?!?!

poop don't even get Monkey researching Cap hits at the time he signed vs real #1s.

Just another bad move by Dubas to go perfectly with the blog theme. Wasted so many years of great star talent due to lack of smart Cap distribution.
