I dont mind Ruhwedel as a 7th/8th, but we obviously still need more depth.

Connor Mackey is in the minors as well as Matthew Robertson. Those are likely the next two in line on defense.

Seems like a real long shot at this point.

No question. Mild surprise they re-signed him, but maybe they still believe he can be a depth d-man. Certainly has not panned out like we hoped

Definitely not, really had high hopes for Robertson based on his junior play.

He had a ton of hype/promise after being drafted.

With a name like that, he was meant to play in NYC.

And Drew Fortescue. He'll be an NHL player, but it's just a matter of when.

Fortescue, emery, Mancini

We kind of need 2 of them to make it to supplement fox, Schneider, miller in the long run. All defensive minded defensemen with not much offense. Necessary to have those kinds of players cost controlled for a while and it’s all we got in the prospect pool at the moment

Right, but not next in line this year if a d-man is needed

Hoping Lindgren doesn’t get more than $4m per for over 3 years now.

He has no other choice, no Cap space, limited trade capital. Hopefully we have some improvement and upside from our prospects and rookies. Maybe our veterans learn how to play 5v5.

Lots of ifs!

Matthew Robertson - one year, two way deal, league minimum of 775K if he makes the NHL. Have to think he is close to wearing out his draft status within the organization. Needs to show he belongs this year or likely no QO next season

I haven't followed the pack in a long time but what happened with him? Just hit a ceiling or did an injury set him back. Seems like the org loved him in juniors

He was hurt for a bit, but from the little I’ve heard about him his positioning stinks and he’s a little slow so he gets beat pretty easily. That was about a year ago I heard that so not sure if that’s still the case, but definitely not what u want to hear if the kid is going to become an NHL regular.

LA got a steal for now, but Byfield will be a free agent at age 26 and get paid. Deal is not fully reflective of what Laf will get, since Laf will be a year close to free agency when he signs next season. If NY got Laf at this price for that many years, I would be skipping to the Lou, but they should go seven or eight and will be at a much higher AAV

What do you see the price being at 7 or 8 years? Feel like pulling the trigger now on the deal would be great.

I would love 8 x 8. I think Laf would accept that as well. Not sure if the Rangers want to sign him before they have a better sense of what Igor will cost

I read where Lafs camp isn’t signing anything yet. Betting on himself.

This is ultimately what people aren’t getting as far as “running it back”. They have no choice other than to really do that. Laf and Shesty are the foundations, cornerstones, insert whatever term you want, but they will get paid and should get paid before anyone and certainly any UFA that was out there.

The alien life forms that post here will just have to deal with the awful season we just had (sarcasm dripping) as they try and duplicate it and then some by winning 6 more games next year. I’m willing to bet they can, crazy me
