Not understanding why this is tough news for the Canes? Even at $3.9M this was an awful contract. I assume it's terminated so the Canes get cap relief. Makes it easier to extend Necas and Jarvis. The Canes love this news. Watch for those extensions coming soon now.

Technically if they were treating Utah like an expansion they wouldn't have their players, prospects and draft picks that were made for Arizona.
So Utah doesn't want the bad baggage, but wants everything else....

He's had a rough couple years but I think rehab really worked for him. End of the day there's probably too much temptation in the NHL to use again and truth is he isn't the player he once was. Going back home would be good for him. |

Any update on the Laine story. His own GM just said he's not even allowed to speak with Laine. So that does complicate trade discussions. But sources had him going to Montreal where he can thrive in an anonymous, no pressure environment. |
