If they extend him now, 5x6.5 seems right. If he has another amazing year this season, it'll be 8x8.5

If that could be, they should do the 5 x $6.5M right now! I think it would be 3 X $6.25M and bet on the Biggie after that!

I would love to sign him to an 8x8 extension now. I thought I heard somewhere that he is betting on himself and is not interested in an extension until after the season.

One thing that could impact his perceived value after the season is how much PP time he gets. If he is on the top unit, he should approach and even surpass 80 points.

He'll get Stutzle money and term, and he should.

I’d be good with 8x8. From that poll, I’d probably take Byfield.

Bayfield comparison seems to be the right fit. But can also see lafreniere bet on himself for a bigger payday next off season. Any other bottom feeder team that won the lottery he would have his deal by now. He has figured it out. And still very young. Will eventually live up to the at #1 selection when you compare to the likes of stutzle byfield Raymond

I certainly hope they can keep it under 8 mil per year.

But whatever happens. He along with Shesterkin are arguably going to be the most important Rangers the next decade

This isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I'd extend Laf & Miller for at least 5 years each. I'd trade Shestyerkin for a 1st round pick & a player who fits a need,(maybe an affordable 3rd line center under contract?). I'd make a big trade with Anaheim that brought Gibson to the NYR & maybe Vatrano and/or Zegras. Obviously, that's a lot of moving pieces, but Bill Zito didn't sit on his hands. He was bold. Can't ignore that fact that Richter,(pre-cap era), had an elite team in front of him. After 2013, Hank's contract was part of what kept them from acquiring key missing pieces. Florida is a no tax state so Bobrovsky & Vasilesky's contracts are not the same for their teams who can attract players for less. Drury was unable to get anyone for more than one year on July 1st. People blamed Trouba's contract which is fair, but it's not only about that contract, (and Trouba negotiated his M-NTC in good faith). Look, Igor deserves to get paid and the cap will go up, but I don't think they can win with their goalie making what he'll command and honestly deserves. One my kids has his jersey. Love Igor. For me, it's a question of (cap) philosophy of what Drury needs to do to win.

The Rangers will definitely use the Saros and Hellebuyck contracts as a comparison. I think these are 2 very comparable goalie signings, if using them could Igor possibly sign for 9-10? When thinking about it and comparing the 3, I think it might be.

I think theyll use the increase in the cap as an excuse for more. However, the Hellebuyck contract could be the best to use for some leverage. Saros is good, but Helle is a 2-time Vezina winner, and would be of similar age at the time of the contract extension. Anything under 10m would be great. Toss a ton of bonus money in there.

Why would you trade one of the best goalies in the world for scraps, only to then make a trade with Anaheim? Just trade Shesty to the Ducks and poach what you can.

First of all I resent the fact that you think I only now started thinking I was better than everyone

Second of all I already weighed in on Shesty sign vs trade like a week ago and it’s still the same bonkers convo on repeat.

Third of all. You never liked me so let’s not act like anything’s changed sweety
