Nice update Yorki!

From all that is coming out and from RT it really looks like he’s going to put Petey with DeBrusk and Sprong. Not only do they fit his winger needs they all know each other off ice somewhat well. Maybe there is chemistry already there waiting to be unleashed.

The battle then seems to be who will play with JTM. Maybe RT will rotate them from the 4th line on who’s going.

It's nice to have options now. Team is a bit deeper

Another top 4 de would be perfect but every team could say that

I wonder if maybe hoglander can be sent to a tram that needs cap relief for a number 4 dman

Thanks Yorksie, hope you're having a great summer as well. Fish are in, so my days off are pretty much planning themselves.

If they trade for a top 4 D it will be around the TDL when they have accrued cap space. If Hogs proves he can keep scoring then maybe he’ll have that trade value then.

Look into Canada's woman's soccer team being penalized 6 points and you'll get the joke.

Th Yorkie on more good stuff

My summer has been slow for work but a bonus to be home & enjoy it. Currently a $45k bill for a new septic field system is nearly done. Also time to get on with other landscaping & retaining walls etc.

From past blog…

Don’t think the government cares about these small communities in BC. The people that fight the fires are at odds with the bureaucrats pulling the strings.
BC is no better.

Well imo provinces facing wildfire pandemics should get relief on equalization. Provinces like Quebec have been a drain on funds.

Reform is a highly needed change in the equalization formula amongst probably other issues provinces face for their own concerns. Alberta for one can add a pst to help fund emergency situations like the Jasper wildfire & previous Ft Mac. BC & Alberta could unite in the battle of wildfires building a wildfire task force with the addition of more firefighting planes & the Bills in legislature needed to enact.

My take is RT has instilled the system & staples demanded of players. Opening open creativity & offence the logical next step. Accountability will still be expected.

The more I see it the more I think there’s no way they trade Hoglander unless there’s a younger dman with top4 potential coming back and it’s not there. Hoglander at 1.1 million for another year is perhaps the biggest reason. Even if he regresses to 20 goals he’s still great value. He’s going to be a 20 +goals scorer going forward and he’s team controlled after this season still. He is has an opportunity to grab a top six spot if he improves and he did play well with Boeser and Miller in the limited minutes he played there this season. With adding Heiden and Sherwood this team is going to have many versions of lines in the top six for sure. Less Sheldon Dries like fillers( see replacement level players) vs actual middle six NHL players (above replacement level). I can’t wait to see how things wash out over camp.

Has a good contract that will fetch lots of interest. 24g has huge effect on the hunt for a D.

TDL is a deadline & imo proactive PA will pull the trigger sooner if a deal is to be found. Accrued cap space is not only for trading also used for call up flexibility.

Agree & Hog isn’t being shopped. Great value on a controlled contract indeed. Great chip to use when or if needed. PA will be hunting specific additions & imo that’s a big piece for a cup push & long term if possible. He’s finally in the position after digging out from the past regimes mess with only the leagues 2nd highest dead cap space to ride out.

They picked up lots of potential scoring this offseason. The D still needs a quality upgrade, hopefully at the age to fit in with this young core. I'm sure there will be conversations. If it's a top 4 D it certainly won't be cheap.

Hoglander + high pick(s)?

Cap out might be the big hurdle. If Hog+ then a very significant add for D.

So a top 6 C and Hog should do it.
