It will be hard to see Geno retiring but he's been unbelievable for us from day one. I'd expect to see Crosby signing a 4-5 year deal with us.

We need another top 6 winger on this team badly. Graves or Jarry (hopefully both) gotta go to make it happen.

The Penguins would be smart to throttle the old guys a little bit. I'm positive it would pay dividends over the season. There are opportunities to get them 5 days off or more if you skip a game. I don't see the harm in missing the occasional b2b either.

Sullivan won't be smart of course and they'll resort to riding those guys hard down the stretch just to barely miss again.

This article is another reason why I wish they signed or traded for a 2nd line center and moved Malkin to LW next to Crosby.

No doubt in my mind Crosby will sign an extension.

I do have a question about this, however:

Malkin said that he would only be ready to play until he's 45 in one case: if Crosby signs an eight-year contract with the Penguins.

I want to play for another two years. As for another one, we'll see after that.

"It will be hard, of course, but I have to," Malkin said to RG.org. "I hope I won't play until I'm 45, actually. I want to play for another two years. As for another one, we'll see after that. I still want to spend time with my family. Family is a very important part of life. Many say they want to return to hockey soon after they retire. But I think my body will tell me when to stop. Maybe it will be expressed in a loss of desire to play. Or I'll start wondering if it's time to retire. Probably, it will happen like this: I'll wake up one morning and realize that I don't want to play hockey anymore."

I didn't see anything in there saying he would play until he's 45 only if Crosby signs an 8-year extension, unless I missed it. Sounds like he has no intention of playing until 45 no matter what.

I'd be pretty surprised if Malkin signs another contract anywhere after this one. So sadly there is a good chance he's played his last playoff game.

I agree He has probably played his last playoff game and that is a shame He should be given another chance to help another team win a Cup Why not? Players play to win not just to exist. Like the Mellencamp song Live goes on long after the thrill of living is gone These guys should play to win another Cup whether or not it is here
You will never get another chance in life as it goes on with or without you Turn these guys loose to pursue as many Cups as possible They are still competitive and want to win (I THINK)

Pretty cool that Mac Swanson, our 7th round pick this year, is getting a chance to center the top line for team USA tonight between two first round picks.

If you don't know him, Swanson got 77 points in 55 games in the USHL. He's also 5'7 to 5'8 165 lbs. Interesting guy to take a flier on.

I really wish we had a bigger window into Crosby, Malkin, and Letang’s personal relationship. There’s a really strong bond there that’s never talked about because Sid is so private and Malkin has a language barrier.

Right? The small stuff that leaks out just makes me more of a fan of those 3 as a trio and makes me even happier they are all riding off into the sunset together.

That is pretty cool and interesting. Just looked him up....he's ex NHLer Brian Swanson's son, he won USHL's player of the year last season, put on 20 pounds last offseason and he's from Alaska.

Is that too much to write about a teenager, Grinder?

If he's from Alaska he likely fishes, hence Grinder will like him.

Nah he's a 5'7" forward with decent hands, he'll hate him.

Being skilled outweighs everything, Grinder only likes plugs.

Crosby was a pretty terrible player in the 08/09 season. Zero fights all season long? Geez, what a scrub.

Could be a Nathan gerbe type. For 5’6 or whatever gerbe was he played with intensity.

Crosby would have done a lot better than 77 pts in the USHL.

I kind of assumed you didn't know who he was. And no way you know how tough a Russian player is or isn't, especially a goalie.
