Good player but I wouldn’t pay that. Oilers are handcuffed now and will never afford support players. Especially after they resign McD. Same issue as Leaf, you can’t win with players taking up this much cap. You’re better off balanced.

I agree with that statement, but that wasn't my point. My point is if you excel as an elite athlete, you should be paid rightful so for that excellence. Just like avid fans of Taylor Swift think nothing of paying a thousand dollars for a front row seat for three hours of entertainment. They say she worth it. It all a matter of taste.

There is risk here. It’s similar to Sanderson getting $8.05 Mil/8 yrs and Power $8.35 Mil/7 yrs. Teams are projecting ceiling and locking them up. All are 21-22 so the deals expire by age 30.

It’s a reversal of teams paying high salaries to aging veterans and giving more modest salaries to younger players.

Could maybe argue they are spending fan's money since we pay them for the entertainment. Only other way would be revenue sharing which doesnt apply to EDM since they arent a struggling team.
