I love Draisaitl and $13.8M is a huge AAV but well deserved. I guess $8.75M for TK is not so out of whack in terms of AAV.

I fully expect McDavid will get the max.. (not sure what exactly that number is allowed to be by the CBA..18?

TK’s aav isn’t the problem, extending a guy who will turn 29 in year one of the deal when the team is probably 4 years, at best, from contending is the problem.

Really good analysis about Buium and Luchanko. If you want specific Philly reaction start at about 9 minutes. I think Matt Moran is spot on and Chris Peters had Luchanko at 18 and said he knows that teams had him higher than that.

The Draisaitl deal has not relevance to the Flyers decision making with re-signing Konecny.

true, but when this deal begins, the projected NHL cap is $92M and if true, TK would represent 9% of the team's cap. In 4-5 years, TK will probably represent about 6% of the team's cap hit if the cap increases by about 30%. If so, the length of the deal is less of a factor. I love TK and am glad he is on the team and wants to not only remain a Flyer for his entire career, which is a rarity these days, but he also only wants to win a Cup for the Flyers (his own words). This is the type of player as a fan I want to watch and root for.

I didn't say it did. All I said was TK's AAV is in better perspective given what Draisaitl just extended for. I really wish you would stop putting words in my mouth.

It's not even the money that gets me (though it's too much for him) but is the 6 year full NMC that bugs me. Puts them in a hole a mile wide that we can see down the road from here. Between TK and Coots contracts, that will be $16M+ tied up in players that likely will not be able to really up to their contracts in 4 or 5 years when they are supposedly expected to compete. It's really disappointing.

Here you are again, flip flopping. Make up your mind. Was it the right move for the Flyers or not? Top players wanting to sign 8 year deals is not at all a rarity.

You just contradicted yourself. First you say that you didn't say it was relevant. Then you say it puts it in better perspective. There are no words put in your mouth. You obviously have no idea what you post from one second to the next.

They really should have dealt him at last season’s deadline.

You must've loved the part at 10.10 where they talk about the Flyers fanbase :

"0.00 percent of them watch hockey and 100.00 percent think they know everything about it"

does that include you?

I know. It's hard to say because I like TK and his game. But business is business and he's an asset that could convert easily into one or 2 future assets that will be maturing at about the time the Flyers are able to genuinely compete for the SC. With a young, low cost (relatively speaking) payroll, that's the time you go and get that stud FA to bolster the lineup. That future flexibility is worth a lot and it looks like they're thinking more near term than long term. This is exactly why the full NMC bugs me more than the $$.

Wait… just within the past few weeks you said that DB should not sign TK to a long term deal? What am I missing?

Is McDavid really the 3rd youngest player at age 27 on Edmonton? Only Skinner the goalie and Bouchard are younger. How does their farm system look?

Missed him, he currently does not have a contract.

So Mcjesus is the youngest forward and the 4th youngest player on the team.
