Looks like he's not a Leafs yet. You think he'd be wearing a Leafs jersey if he was officially signed.
well Leafs have little more flexibility with their cap

what will happen with these Leafs' pick Miettinen and Koster that need to signed by August 15th or become ufa?

I think these guys do not fit Tre's profile of snot and will not be signed by the club.

I’ll confess I have never heard of them, so had to look them up.

Miettinen Is a tiny right winger, so I doubt he has any illusions about being given a chance in Toronto.

They other guy? Who knows. Maybe he sees a path forward with the Leafs?

Neither seem like NHL material.

A guy who might potentially be a 7th d man moving forward in the NHL? lol

You can tell the boredom of the off-season is driving leafs fans nuts, anyone thinking a guy with a massive injury that ended his previous season and made his own team not want to resign him as being a top 6 guy for the leafs is a bit nuts.

Why nuts? He was solid for Dallas and he's exactly what we need mixed in with our soft as butter defense. Even if he can't play again it's not completely absurd to have hoped or wished he could and that he was actually signed at least. Hello LTIR if it didn't work out.

Nope, he isn’t signed, and no, LTIR is not a given useful thing since it costs the cap hit until they want to go over the cap and they can only have 3 guys I think it is in that setup.

He’s not signed and it’s obvious. And he’s no top six guy at all after that last injury and surgery. He’s done, maaaaaybe a 7th guy who plays 30-40 games a year tops but I doubt even that. He was cut out of both the remainder of the regular season and playoffs of a semi finalist team last season, he’s not needed.

It's a little early yet to say he's done. What we know is he had surgery on the knee, which is why he missed the end of last season. How the knee eventually heals still remains to be seen.

If it does heal properly, he could be an important piece for them in the back half of the season and the playoffs. If it doesn't, then as you say, he's not signed, so they move on. They should hold onto their existing blueline depth until they know for sure, one way or another.

I’m at the point where their promise to sign him if he’s healthy was part of what it took to get Tanev to sign. I’m guessing he’ll get tossed aside quickly.

It amuses me that some people think that Tanev got overpaid by the leafs.

$27 million in Ontario means his take home will only be about $12,600,000 over 6 years. If he resigned in Dallas he could have signed for 4 years at $5.5 million a year for the same take home.

Also our government is after NHLers trying to sneak around taxation payments. If our court settles this within 4 years you won’t see Matthews resign in Toronto.

lol to be fair when it comes to me is that I’ve had around 60 days of hospital time the last 4 years, part of my brain removed, and $1200 a month worth of meds covered for me. Yes the taxation can sting but I’ll continue to happily pay it.
