Couple of thoughts here:

1. The Athletic is for Libs

2. It's borderline embarrassing (and maybe not even that borderline) that our fan base would rank a team that lost in the ECF's front office 25th in the league. Even if you don't love where they sit currently 25th is insane.

3. "Hey, Rangers fans — relax a little bit, yeah? The team is elite, has gone to the conference finals in two of three years, has a fairly clean cap sheet and a strong core, and hasn’t made a whole lot of mistakes lately. What more do you want here?"

I know I lean optimistic most of the time, but the Athletic writer completely lost me with the last line there. I think it's pretty clear what "more" most of this fanbase wants.

Some of this roster is still form the prior management, so grades should reflect that...

Roster Building A- (working with what he has. Gorton's folly with Trouba hurts)
Cap Mgmt B+ (see issue with Roster building.)
Draft & Dev B+ (It's far better than one thinks. Time will tell though)
Trading B- (again...working with what he has in cap. Did ok)
Free Agency C (broken record here...prior management folly haunts us)
Vision B+ (2 ECF in three years...I'd say he sees it).

In my eyes, those 2 ECF runs are tainted. The first run to the ECF's we played 3rd string goalies. It is quite possible if Crosby didnt get hurt the Rangers wouldnt have made it out of the first round. Out in the first round the following year and then this past May, I think if it wasnt for Igor, we dont get past the Canes. Yes I know having the best goaltender isnt against the rules but it is what it is.

The main reason why the fans are so hard on this organization is because of the constant failures of the past. We are an original 6 team with only one Cup in 85 years, please people dont cry that I said it, its not my fault, its the teams fault. Bad trades, bad signings bad decisions follow this team decade after decade. We have one of the highest ticket prices in the league and we deserve a winner, yet this team just compounds their mistakes. There is no direction, lets sign the highest priced free agents to bring people in to justify the ticket prices, to hell if they fit in or not.

Life in the big City.

Last year we ranked 25th in this poll. Quite frankly, I'm surprised we moved up to 17th here with so much negativity and angst among our fan base. Many of the posters here clearly hold the more harsh, negative view....

Wow this is such a surprise take from you. You just can't help but being miserable. Why do you even rout for the team if every year you have no hope. What does this constant whining get you? Do you feel superior somehow being such a whiny female dog? I mean JFC give it a rest already.

Why not just delay the playoff rounds in which a team's best players are hurt until they recuperate? Or would you prefer an asterisk be engraved on the Cup when the losing team isn't 100% healthy? Teams take their opponent as they find them because they don't care about what you think is fair or "tainted."

What? SO it wasn't fair we lost to Tampa nearly a decade ago because Zucc had a brain injury and could not play. It was also needed to put an * on the Kings Cup win against the Rangers because half the D had broken ankles and feet.

I see...I totally get it.

Miserable, nope, im a happy go lucky guy. Sorry to disappoint you. I've been rooting for thus team since 1978 so I'm very accustomed to this team not playing up to expectations. I'm sorry if you don't like my take on the team but I really just don't care what you think about my take. You can go stand on the corner watching the President Trophy parade go by.

Whining?? You can accept medicore play, I don't.

Do I feel superior because as you see it i whine about this team?? Wtf does that even mean??

I will explain it to you so that you can understand.

I think this team doesn't have what it takes to win in the playoffs.

No you absolutely don't get it. I think those teams over achieved in the playoff runs to the ECF. When the going got tough, they collapsed.

I think that's what he meant by feeling superior. I'm not sure how to read this as anything other than superior or a huge hardass.

We all know your feelings on this core. Just because you feel they didn't deserve to be in the ECF doesn't mean that it is true, and based on the survey in the blog most fans of other teams have no problem giving the rangers some credit. It's ok the be disappointed that they haven't won the cup but this complete black and white, either you win the cup or you might as well have been 32nd in the league is where you lose a lot of people.

I, for one, enjoyed last season. The end was disappointing, sure, but that was a really fun season to watch. People can enjoy that without you speaking down to them saying that "you can accept mediocre play but I don't" like you are better than people because you hold a team that doesn't know you from a hole in the ground to a higher standard than some other people on the internet.

Because the Rangers constantly lose.

Truthfully, I dont let the Rangers control my happiness. At 55, Ive learned to let go of the losses and live life. When I was younger, I let the angers bother me for days.
