Can't believe he's 75.. HBD Clarkie. I wish I had been able to watch him live. He retired before I was really into watching the game. |

I saw him play in an Alumni game with Lindros. Even though he was no where close to what he was, it was great to see him out there. His playing time was before my time as well.

Interesting to see that the oil have offer sheeted Holloway and Broberg. They're over the cap so they will need to make a move to match I think. |

E Kane's going on LTIR so they can probably afford to match one of the two.
Still... love seeing discord in the GM coterie.
Welcome back to the league Stan Bowman.

They're only two year deals, so the risk is mitigated to the Blues somewhat. I think it's bad business that will at some point come back to haunt you.

Pretty hilarious the Blues had to trade with Pitt to get back their own 2nd rounder in order to go through with the Broberg offer sheet. |

You are probably right, but personally I don't understand why business is business, don't like it then have cap space |

I fully expect Joel Farabee to explode this season. He’s been trending in this direction a few seasons now. Anything else would be a disappointment.
I’m way too young to have been able to see Bobby Clarke play but I did meet Bob Clarke in Toronto, his final season as GM for the Flyers the very night Mike Richards scored his first 5 on 3 shorthanded goal again Ed Belfour.
The Flyers overachieved last season. We all know this. I never root for the team to lose, otherwise what’s the point in watching? I have no expectations for this season outside of, I really want Michkov to be the real deal, which is what I’ll be watching for at this point. |

The Flyers will have four notable RFAs who could be offer sheeted next summer if they aren't extended or moved first

seeing all the cap space the flyers have maybe they can help the oilers out. |

Business is business and it's certainly well within the rules. To my memory, the majority of offer sheets given have not worked out. The Canes in part offer sheeted Kotkianiemi to get back at the Habs and that has not worked out for them. Overall he has been a disappointment and has hurt them cap wise. Every team will eventually have cap issues and you open yourself up to retribution and a potential purging of your vulnerable young players when you don't have the space.

Agreed, but I think every once in a wile a player comes along where you need to act regardless of retaliation (weber) I would have done the same thing at that moment |

The Kotkianiemi offer sheet, IMO, was one of the dumbest decisions made.

Bill,
I just listened to the part one pod with you and jm. While discussing the putrid PP, how could neither of you mention coaching as part of the problem? - corduroy
Because the PP was at the bottom even before Thompson got here.it was just as bad in 2021-22 (12.6%) with a parade of 3 coaches: Therrien, Williams, and Torchetti. And that was with Giroux still here til nearly the deadline.
We can keep keep scapegoating one PP coach after another as the big problem to fix or they can fix the main issues first. I am fine with a change of PP coach but it's not top of list to me.

"It was most of the team that dropped off dramatically in the heart of the stretch drive, especially during the eight-game freefall. I also thought that the head coach left himself open to second-guessing with decisions he made and the manner in which he conducted himself down the stretch." You're talking Flyers, but same words apply to Eagles and Phillies if things continue the way they are.
