I have to say Scripps Sports is amateur hour. The Panthers got cheap with their televised broadcast. Tampa who, like the Panthers had Balley Sports transitioned smoothly into FanDuel broadcasting. The difference is like night and day.
My concerns with the Panthers are these long-term contracts worth millions to a handful of players. I fear complacence will take place and the high-end players will dog it and live off the fat of the land. That and being on the IR list doing nothing yet collecting a big paycheck. This is depressing to the fans that want to see drive and competitiveness. The challenge of this fall on the newly extended Paul Maurice.

Would’ve needed X-ray vision to track the first one. He was scrambling around, though. But really settled down and played very well the final 2 periods. He needs more consistent playing time, he’s never in his life not been the starter playing the majority of games. It’s why I thought he would start in the AHL this season.

You can never be a starting goalie giving up three goals right off the bat. The problem is he has no lateral movements, and he's only in his twenties.

What really turned around the apathetic play of the Panthers was Tkachuk run in with Islander goalie Varlamov. He was determined to score a goal besides getting whacked at by Varlamov goalie stick. After that the Panthers picked up their play. Tkachuk always stirs the pot when he is healthy.

First one was through a maze of bodies, many goalies let that in. More playing time would sharpen his spider sense as to where the puck was. The second was deflection right in front of him on a puck going 4 ft wide. A bit awkward fall to the ice as he stopped the deflected puck. The guy was left alone to poke the loose puck under him.
The third goal a lucky bounce off the back boards, which more playing time will sharpen his reaction to that play. Don’t overlook the Dman being caught too high and the guy is standing all alone at the post to stuff it in before Knight got across.

Him shaking that poop off and finishing the game strong is a good sign.
