Thanks for letting the discussion playout in your last blog. It's good to have a healthy dialogue in the comment section. New blogs tend to disengage people from the flow of a productive conversation. At the end of the day we all want the same thing, the fans, we just don't always agree on the current path or a path forward.

Once I saw some of the back and forth I made 2 decisions on it. First, to stay out of it. You and Hockeybuzzed and everyone involved had a back and forth that was fantastic to watch develop and didn’t need my opinions interjected. 2nd, let it go. It’s healthy and people can learn something when that happens. I thank you for being so involved and diving in. There’s a great song lyric (old) that it comes to: “Let’s leave it alone, ‘cause we can’t see eye to eye. There ain’t no good guys, there ain’t no bad guys, there’s only you and me and we just disagree”. At some point the conversation ends but when it’s done right you have passionate fans on opposite sides of an issue that can respect the difference. That’s pretty cool when it happens.

Mr. Buzzed was certainly correct in that the Wings depth of drafting definitely dropped off once Joe McDonnell left for Dallas in 2013, with Nill. Something that was an amazing strength before that.

Tyler Wright was a massive step down in that regard. That being said. I don't think we can make an informed opinion on Draper yet as most of the kids they've drafted from 2020 onward are still developing. Although, I do agree, we should be seeing some results from that 2020 class from round two and beyond if we're going to get anything from it.

The Dallas kids like Robertson and Hintz took three to four years of development before they made it to the NHL for them.

Hintz and Robertson both became full time contributors 3 years after being drafted. Stankoven only needed 2 years. Lots of 2nd and 3rd round picks force their way onto rosters with superior play.

Tuomisto is at 5 years and nowhere close. Wallinder and the rest of the 2020 draft class are at 4 years and not a single guy is even on the radar. The 2021 draft class with Cossa, Buium, Mazur is at 3 years. So this is when Hintz and Robertson broke in. None of them have forced their way onto the team.

But maybe more patience is needed. Where have I hear that before??

I think there are some players in GR that could possibly be up with the Wings or at least be given a chance to see what they can bring but this team is cluttered with a lot of crap.

Personally i would much rather have Soderblom on the Wings than Rasmussen. I would have traded Ras years ago before other teams figured out that he was big but doesn't use it and has nothing in his game that is above average. Not with this contract and his play he probably doesn't have much value at all.

Granted GR is lead by AHL vets for the most part and not the Wings prospects, but sometimes players produce better in the NHL than they AHL. This is where having a spot or two open for young guys would have helped. If a prospects shows he's not NHL ready then you return him and bring up someone else. Give them some games and see where they are really at and what they need to work on...plus this would give the prospects a bit of an incentive to work harder instead of knowing they are stuck in the AHL for 3 years unless they are an all-star down there.

In this case I’m actually worried about the call ups. It feels like a rudderless ship that is going to make life worse for players who are part of the current mess. There’s a comment from a presser I’m going to bring up tomorrow that shocked me a bit and explains what looks like horrible system deployment
