I had written this earlier (probably last year). Mika and Kreider stopped forechecking. My conspiracy theory was that they were protecting their plus minus numbers. In addition, Mika, because he fell in love with CK tipping the puck in the net. he literally stopped shooting. Now we see him shooting again and going into the corners and even driving to the net and it has been noticeable. He still has a ways to get back to where he was, but I see it happening sooner than later as now its confidence related as he is playing like the player we all fell in love with- hey what do I know, I am just a fan and a season ticket holder for more than 10 years.

So they stopped forechecking to protect their plus/minus numbers?? God forbid they score to increase their plus/minus or do you think they were looking for it to go down more?? Im going to assume they didnt want their plus minus to increase thats why Mika has been so terrible at coverage in his own end and loves to just turn the puck over on lazy plays.
Mika fell in love with CK20 tipping the puck, so he stops shooting. So if he loves him tipping the puck, does he only like to watch him tip the puck only when other players shoot it??? Is that whet you are saying? Mika just likes to watch?
Yes you have figured Mika out, you are a genius!!!! |

Is it me or do I feel like we need Brukies permission to enjoy anything about this team? Or he blows up into our eyeballs for doing so |

Team solidifying moment for me. After Carrick scored facing the fans with his teammates celebrating with him I feel was a huge team moment. |

Yea we’ll see. They haven’t had many wins of that variety. Every time I think they have something going it goes bad again |

I mentioned last night that I thought Miller, Fox and Lindgren had their best games of the season. The whole D corp really. It was nice to see them not fold with every chance against.
Borgen and Miller may have something too, as a pair. Solid night for them |

Agree on first two and Borgen. Lindgren was better, not great. |

idk call me short sighted but it's too early for me to completely mail this in. if they hit another tailspin, whatever re-tool for next year. but it's too cold and too dark for me to throw a win away when they actually played well.
im happy today - xanax for me! |

Good game by the boys. Great ending. I like Borgen, brings some physicality could be the answer to third pair or second. |

The bar for Lindgren to have his best game of the season was pretty low so having a not-awful game like he did last night is his best of the season |

Kakko could have been fine here on the 3rd line. People got excited about 5 points in 8 games in seattle. He is the same player there with more minutes. Not a point producer at all but a consistent 2 way player. Cannot lose sleep over players like that. Easily replaceable.

I’m very similar mindset. It’s a stress free season as far as I’m concerned. In game I mean. Like whatever happens happens. They probably need a year where they get a good draft pick anyway, but look forward to maybe their best hockey of the season where they can make the playoffs.
When they win games it’s nice to talk about it without getting yelled at for it tho lol |

I will say this. A win is a win.
I previously stated that they would eventually figure it out and probably win. But to me, NOT TO BE OVER NEGATIVE, but I think winning would cover up the deficiencies of the core group.
I said it in the other blog thread, I do think it is worth noting the play of the Rangers without Kreider. Not a conspiracy, but this locker room has been an issue and a subtraction of one of the core players is interesting. |

regarding Mika and the last blog- I said he is not all the way back, but he is getting closer IMO, I know you are rooting for a turnaround- like you pointed out- there really is no other choice.
