I think Crosby needs to stfu, pass Lemieux for all time points by a Penguin and then request a trade the F-outta there. He knows he wants another shot at a cup, everyone else knows he wants another shot at the cup. Trading him (as well as Malkin and Letang) asap will bring short term pain but long term gain for the club. They have a shot at a high pick this year and McKenna kid next year. Take the shot. |

Would anyone entertain a jarry - grabauer trade. Both have had success in the past. Both are going to be on the A. Grab is about 600k more but one less year. Maybe, doubtfully, but maybe a change of scenery helps both. |

We can take a shot at the top pick in the next two drafts without getting rid of the big 3. We are selling at the deadline and will probably tank a bit standing wise. Honestly I think one year of a top pick plus an aggressive offseason. We should be ok. |

I don't think so. One less year is appealing but higher cap hit and a worse buyout structure make it a no go imo.

Big game in Wilkes lol. 4 goals for koivunen. 4 points for bemstrom. So far. I’d much rather see them than nieto, doc, accari, glass, etc. |

Things are definitely getting strange/weird for the Penguins organization. Apparently there was a closed door meeting with discussions of the TDL plans and Future plans/goals. The owners are flip flopping. I guess they went from saying we should spend to the cap and be aggressive this offseason with the cap space. Instead they are saying that they might want us to move cap space and bigger contracts such as Karlsson, Bunting, Hayes, Graves, Jarry, and Rakell. At first our 30 million cap space next year was looking to be a weapon. Now they are saying hold off and maybe shoot for a goal of 2 years until we “maybe” compete..
It sounds like they are strangely went from we have power and let's push our weight around money wise to now saying we aren't spending money.

Curios as to where you read this? If true, I can't really blame them. I know how they could cut a big chunk of underperforming salary... Trade the coach.

That's why you trade him. Rangers wanted him last year. I still think somebody would want him.

I said in a previous thread, that if the Penguins are trending towards being a bottom 5-7 team, then look at some of the payrolls of those teams. Those are teams with a lot of salary cap space that they can use to gain assets by trading for players with little money left but a high cap hit. The limited payroll reflects less than stellar attendance.
So in reality, if we were to trade a Karlsson or Rakell, we'd likely replace him with a guy not making as much. The good thing is we have dead cap like Graves and Jarry who just getting them off our books would be the main win without sacrificing on the ice product.
I have to think if you get a top 5 pick this year and if you cannot make any big time moves to compete again, the top pick next season should be the goal. That kid looks to be generational.

Looks like Stl and Saad agreed to terminate his contract. Since the Pens will probably unload some forwards soon, maybe now it makes sense to let the kid come home and play out the season on the cheap. |

Perhaps the correct place for Jarry is the echl. |

Depends if you're tanking or going with a youth movement.
If you're flat-out tanking Sullivan is your guy.
He is worthless in a youth movement.

Right lol. I think the Pens will do one more year of this rebuild/retool before they attempt to compete, so keeping him would make some sense. Kind of funny how they'd be keeping an expensive HC because his work is helping them lose.

Well the last time Dubas had major free agent cash he signed Jarry & Graves to big contracts and wasted meaningful money on Hayes, Smith & Accari. I'm not surprised they are going to ask him to be cautious with cash. |

No teams have had enough time to figure him out yet, but boy is he delivering. He might leapfrog Blomqvist shorly.
There are a lot of Russian prospects across the league that are just looking like dynamite right now. |

Actually, how about Jarry & Graves for Grabauer & Stephenson. Two overpaid useless players for One overpaid useless player and one overpaid useful player?

His goal was to go after Marner because of his past relationship.
I think Acciari is ok at wing, but is overpaid. I think Hayes is doing a bit better at the 3rd line center spot. Smith, Jarry and Graves were terrible |
