The team is in the same spot since he took over. Bottom of the league.

He has gotten everything out of them. Yet they still are a bottom feeding team. So, is it fair to say he hasn't gotten everything out of them? Look at the PP as one example of he hasn't gotten everything out of them.

His communication is terrible. What was it he said? He doesn't do one on ones or something to that effect unless they come to him.

He refuses to use analytics. Something he admits.

This is the only level he can take this team. That has been proven over 3 seasons.

The question I have does Danny have 100% authority to dismiss him from his job? or does he need others to sign off.

Either way it is scary to think that Briere and Jones are on board with him as coach.

No. In fact if the coGM was smart now would be a good time to sack him.

I really like and respect Torts as a hockey coach and I have defended him on this forum since he came here. However I think this should be his last year of coaching this team. I never thought Farabee and Frost were going to be great NHL players so I have been on Tort's side in terms of how he has handled them. But I don't like the way he is handling Michkov. Sure I think Michkov has at times deserved to be benched for a period or so because of his poor play, and I also think it would have been beneficial to sit Michkov occasionally just so he can rest and get used to the grind of an NHL season, as Anaheim did with Carlsson last season. But benching Michkov for the 2nd and 3rd periods the other night when the team was already down two forwards, or not playing Michkov on the first PP unit, or only playing Michkov 9 minutes in a game. I'm sorry but that is not acceptable to me. The kid needs to play and gain NHL experience. And speaking of the PP, its once again one of the worst in the league, and you can't tell me that is all on the players. Rocky should have been replaced last year but wasn't. So for those reasons, I think its time for the Flyers to bring in a new coach, maybe get Sullivan out of Pittsburgh or someone like that.

I didn't want him this year, i didn't want him last year, and i thought it was a PR hire rather than a good move when it was made.

Nobody was hiring him, he was retired. Everyone was tired of his antics and the game had passed him by but the Flyers needed a PR win. They checked in with other "name" coaches who had options and therefore wanted nothing to do with the Flyers so it was Torts or someone whose name wasn't going to put asses in the seats.

Torts is a recognizable name and a "character", they couldn't sell the fans on the players and they just fired multiple coaches in a row so that's what they sold the fans on, Tort's cartoonish ways.

Seriously, the man doesn't use analytics in 2025? Fred Flintstone might have more advanced methods than "me yell at you, you yell at me, I happy".

Rocky fits right into that. Torts deserves to be fired for sticking with Rocky for 3 years. That alone is fireable. Rocky's in the record books and so are the Flyers. They should feel shame.

No Torts.

What Torts has said about analytics is absolutely correct, that most analytics are nothing but crap and are not useful. Torts believes correctly that you need to watch the games at ice level and observe the flow and feel of the game, and then augment that with good analytics. Torts has also mentioned that his coaching staff dives deep into the analytics and often brings observations to him for discussion. So you are grossly mischaracterizing Tort's opinions and usage of analytics.

Torts and the Flyers are a perfect fit for each other. I hope this relationship lasts for another decade plus. Then when there's not a fan left in the building Comcast will finally dump the team. And we can finally get to the business of building a real contender.

yes he is not the right guy for MM, he was not the right guy for Farabee or Frost, his hardline, I am the smartest guy in the room thing is outdated. He let Rocky throw the dumbest combinations out on the PP, after 2 years of being last in the league. You don't like the way he handles MM, just make sense you should not like the way he handles other skill players who dont take the body.

York looking like a stud.
Foerster Cates and Brink establishing themselves.
Drysdale unlearning the junk from Anaheim.

Are you a fan of the Talking Heads? Bc you are making flippy floppy today. It's nice to see that everyone on this board knew you would break at some point. Just like good ol' CF.

I have a lot of respect for Torts and always preferred the hard ass coaches, but I expect he will be in a different position with the team come next year and a player friendly coach brought in

No. Next season will be a lame duck type year. Just move on. We shouldnt extend him so it makes more sense to get a new voice in the locker room.

The game has passed him by. Put this egocentric dinosaur out to pasture before he ruins more of the Flyers prospects.
