Canada has better forwards agreed.
Canada's D is great, i feel like the usr's are slightly better.
The edge in goaltending is for sure to usr.
In these short tournaments anything can happen.
We'll see.
Hope the canucks win, but its not the Olympics or world cup so either way it doesnt carry anywhere near the same value. But its still better than an all star game.

Very little national pride for this gimmick of an all star game replacement cash grab. I am not sure we will see guys pushing hard with a third of the season on the line when they comeback plus the playoffs (for some).

Which team/coach will be able to sell fake enthusiasm to those millionaires for 10 days, who gets to win the ugliest trophy ever?

Yeah, they are talking a good game, but I don't believe they are going full out until I see it.

players go because they care about the Olympics next year...that's a totally different story, Team Canada made it clear if you want to be on the Olympic team, you must participate in the gimmick event.

I don't give a single poop about national pride or school spirit or any of that. But, I am curious to see some of these line combos. I hadn't planned on watching any games, but I may tune in just to scratch the hockey itch and watch my Blue and White guys play with new elite linemates.

I'm just miffed that they didn't keep the NHL only rule for coaches. I want to see Team Finland coached by Paul Maurice (bunch of female genitalia (frank)ers) and Team Sweden by Sheldon Keefe (let the offense fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I don't usually comment on the article

But this is gold

"Finland is the only nation without a Toronto player on their roster. Probably because there is no one from Finland on the Leafs squad."

I was on the freshly zamboni'd ice in front of city hall this AM for a skate with the fianze, (frank) it was sweet! Rocking the glorious Marner Stadium Series Michigan jersey.

Man that's a beautiful skate in the morning when no one is there.

Got a made-in-Canada Canada toque coming in the mail cause I'm feeling the Canadian spirit in a big way. Not because of this hockey tournament though. Just feeling that seal-clubbing, syrup-chugging, washing-our-balls-in-ice-water kind of national spirit and I wanna advertise it.

NHL coaches BUT they have to be from your home nation.

Team Finland Head Coach Tuomo Ruutu would be fun.

Here's something that will blow your mind:

In the entire history of the Toronto Maple Leafs, we've only had 9 skaters from Finland:

Leo Komarov - 327 GP

Aki Berg - 325 GP

Kasperi Kapanen - 202 GP

Jyrki Lumme - 124 GP

Nikas Hagman - 120 GP

Mikko Lehtonen - 9 GP

Olli Jokinen - 6 GP

Al Pudas - 4 GP

Jani Hakanpaa - 2 GP

And I'm guessing you are wondering who Al Pudas was.

Born in 1899, he played 4 games for the Toronto St. Patricks in 1926-27.

Edit: add three goalies.

Vesa Toskala: 145 GP

Jussi Rynnas: 3 GP

Kasimir Kaskisuo: 1 GP

I did not know this was possible.

Have you tried the Barbara Ann Scott Trail behind College Park?

It's usually quiet - a bit of fun.

That's kind of mind blowing. Hartford/Carolina has had twice that number since joining the league in 1979.

I thought they all played pretty hard for the World Cup of Hockey in 2016. I really enjoyed that tournament as well. Not as much as the Olympics, I will wholly grant, but it was good hockey.

Why would this be different?

Hagman had some heart too. Just a bad time where 3rd liners at best are playing top line minutes
