As a proud Canadian, part of me hates the boos directed at the anthem. We try our best to respect others and be good world citizens.

The reality is these boos are so much bigger than hockey or any sport. I get the US players being upset but I hope they are smart enough to know where this is really coming from.

imagine not understanding why a nation's president casually and consistently talking about how poopty he thinks another country is and how he wants to annex it might piss off the residents of that country. beginning and end of conversation

Canadians do and should continue to be good world citizens and show respect. That being said it’s hard to hold ordinary citizens in a hockey rink to a higher standard than one would the head of state of a nation. When you have the head of state of the most powerful nation go on on national tv and call the head of state of another nation (that has bled beside you on many battle fields) “the governor” instead of addressing him by the appropriate title AND then insinuating that that sovereign nation should be annexed as another state, that is very disrespectful behaviour. The boos are unfortunate but justified.

Outside of that the boos were mainly directed at AM34 everytime he touched the puck…mainly because he is a TML.
