I’m pulling for Sam. I really like him. He’s a battler. He’s a Philly type guy all the way. Been an underdog all along. Now he’s starting for team Sweden for crying out loud

Yeah, but since then he’s been great on his rebounds. He’s definitely very good at eating up the puck.

Not a good start but he’s stabilized. Played pretty well the rest of the period.

A big thing that he’s doing that not enough goalies do is he’s swallowing up the puck and stopping play which against the US is great because the US is feeding off of momentum and stopping and starting is bad for them

Hockey night in Canada crew just said that they thought Ersson deserved the first star of the game and they were kind of shocked that he didn’t get it

Although the game didn’t mean anything, Sam did play very well.

Great job by Ersson. Interesting to watch the value of Petterssen continue to drop. If VAN does not do well the rest of the season, I fully expect him to be the scapegoat.

That was my thought watching the CAN\US game. Guys were going hard like it was the SC finals and its actually a meaningless tournament for bragging rights. I mean it was great for fans. Very entertaining game but yea, not so great for NHL teams. I dont understand why they dont just finish the season earlier and do something like this in the offseason.

Do you think the players would agree to that?

Why wouldn't they? If you skip the all star break and go right through, the playoffs ends in May instead of June. You can then have the tournament in the extra weeks gained by not taking a break from the season.

They already have the World Championships happening at that general time.

I think they would if it was in September, because at that time they already in training camp. This would just get them game ready faster. I would assume I could be way off

I want no part of him, he 1 of those players that as soon as he gets his money he stops trying.

Might be a little early to make that assumption. 89 points in 82 games when he signed the extension. So far, 34 points in 49 games. Seems like a small sample size. No issue feeling he is over paid, I hesitate to label any player to "stop trying" without a bigger sample size. Just my opinion.

I'm trying to think about any comparables to former 100 point players who later got moved still within their prime. Only one I can think of is Joel Thornton being moved from BOS to SJ. I guess we could say Rantanen now, but he got moved because of an impending UFA. Pretty sure Thornton was not going to be a UFA when he was moved. Could be wrong.

So your player gets hurt, misses training camp and part of the beginning of the season.

No games between Monday and Thursday? Why are they dragging this thing out?
