They could've moved him last year and now they need to take what they can get and continue moving along and away from they past few years' core. Second round pick seems fair depending on the team and where in the round they pick.

Does anyone think Briere will do the right thing? Whatever the right thing is, I’m sure he’ll do something else

Boucher was talking up Kuzemenko a tad. What will they do with him? Extend, let him walk, or get a mid rd pick?

“No calls on Andrei Kuzmenko

Kevin Kurz of The Athletic: The Philadelphia Flyers haven’t had any calls on pending UFA forward Andrei Kuzmenko. He has a 12-team no-trade clause, and they aren’t against moving him. He carries a $5.5 million cap hit and the idea of re-signing him at a lower number is also a potential option.

Kevin Kurz: Flyers coach John Tortorella: “It’s not a long term deal. He knows that. We know that. So it’s a bit of an audition of, what are you, can you help us, do you want to help us? You’re going to show us if you want to help us by attitude and how we plays, and we’ll make a decision from there.’ “

If GMDB extends, Kuz will score 10 goals per season;

If GMDB lets him walk, he signed a 3 year At 2mil per and reverts to a 30 goal scorer;

If GMDB trades him for a 3rd round pick, the pick never plays in the NHL and Kuz goes on to win the Cup this year

Flyers luck. GMDB will do the wrong thing. Preordained

I'm really curious what kind of role Torts gets after he leaves the bench. Right now, he reports directly to Hilf just like Briere and Jones. Does the new HC get the same structure. Bob Murray is a Senior Consultant who can give recommendations to the GM. I don't get the sense Torts has a small ego, will he be satisfied being a hockey whisperer in the background?

Yes to trading Laughton for a 2nd or 3rd pick. He will be 31 next season as a rental, his value will not increase. Laughton has eclipsed 40 points once in his career. His intangible value has to eventually take a hit considering the last time the team was in the playoffs was playing in the bubble. Usually strong leaders in the dressing room show a strong track record of winning. This organization creation that Laughton type players are essential to the room is starting to lose steam. I would hope Laughton would want to go. Time is running out to win a Cup. His next contract he signs will be less then his current one. He will pretty much be a 4th liner very quickly.

Just pure entertainment that the Flyers are so torn on a player like Scott Laughton after this many years. This is an easy decision.

A late second is fine but consider it being the 2026 draft. As for risto, if they can get someone to take the full contract I’d give him away for nothing. It’s about opening slots for young d and forwards to come up and start developing. (Andrae and Luchanko)

nothing less than a 3rd with a prospect or straight up 2nd pick which in all likelihood late 2nd rounder

Really curious how they open up top 6 spots on the blueline. Andrae, Grans, and McDonald should get a run of games at the NHL level. The team will not be a contender next season. Not sure Zamula is not returning. Will Seeler become fhe 7th Dman next season?

Im ok with a 2nd. Theres no reason to take less. We should be moving guys to improve for the future, not to just get rid of them

Flames really lean on goal tending, see why this kid is in rookie convo

Laughton, yea 2nd for me. If the Flyers have a REAL shot at the playoffs why sell for a 3rd. Dont get me wrong, I am on the get high pick team, but hockey trade, beyond a 2nd is most likely an AHL player.

Banned I heard. This board is a lot more civil without him. Havent seen either Claudefather either now that you mention it, unless they are one of these new accounts on here.

I guess the real question is this. Since both Laughton and Risto have term, do you hold out for the deal you want NOW, or do you wait until the offseason or even next years deadline when Laughton is a pending UFA and Risto is down to one year left?

If you can get a 2nd then do the deal, though I would prefer a prospect for both players. If a 3rd is all you get then be patient. See what is what at the draft, maybe you can package a pick and Laughton for a prospect. Im not sure how valuable Risto is at his current cap hit and term. Sure he is playing the best hockey of his career but that isn't really saying much when you look at his career lol. Most of the league knows what he really is, a third pair defenseman on a contending team.

Yea i think you hold on, unless they pay close to what you ask.

The flyers are in no rush, I find most fans are inpatient and want action regardless, then they will complain if the Flyers didn't make out like bandits.

I personally do believe they trading at lest 2 defenseman over the off-season. They have such a log jam and you could package a York and a 1st and really get a center obviously it might cost more.

The key is really see what the flyers have and what they can live without

Funny how it’s gone from a 1st plus to a 2nd and maybe a 3rd for Laughton today. I think Jake Evans and Laughton are comparables. Jake is younger and cheaper but Laughton has been more productive offensively . I could see a needy team giving a 1st for Evans if he’s packaged with someone like Armia. Laughton is 30 and he probably will want a small increase on his next contract. His value will drop so the time to move him is now. The Flyers held on to this asset too long. Sometimes I hold onto some of my stocks too long.

Jack Hughes went hard into the boards. Hope he is ok, went immediately off the ice holding his shoulder. Have to figure, NJ definitely will be looking to add fwd depth now

That forward could be a center or a wing. Mercer is playing wing and is better there. But he can play center so they can move him there. He doesn’t win faceoffs but he could function as a 2C. A winger is easier to replace than a C.

I’ve said for years mjl is bill. It’s bill taking the opposite position of every post to drive hits.

Bill is now gone. Bill hung around for a bit as mjl to wrap up his character and now is fully gone. At best you might see a here or there pop up mjl comment in future as bill surely will check in from time to time. They aren’t giving out bans now as bill is gone
