I am not expecting a big move from the Leafs...maybe a bottom 6F or a 3rd pair D. |

Probably as expected, but league sources confirm that Carolina has received clarity from Mikko Rantanen's camp as far as not being ready to make a decision on the team's contract offer by Friday's trade deadline. Hence, Carolina talking to teams and seeing for real what the trade market is for him. It comes down to weighing best trade offers on the table versus keeping Rantanen as a rental... let's see how it goes. |

they just dont have the cap space.
unless tre is willing to move someone like Domi, Reaves, Kampf etc... they will fight for the cheap scraps

willing to move Reaves? I doubt it is the lack of willingness preventing a move.... |

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Rantanen doesn't sign in Carolina. Why the (frank) would he? Canes are not a contender.

Maybe not, but he does have value for the Canes in a playoff run. It'll be very interesting if he's moved again, and how much it takes to get it done.
For the record, there is virtually no chance the Leafs are actually, seriously involved. |

So as I said weeks ago with all these massive cap hike projections it is looking like it’s already cracking. Bettman saying the trade war and the Canadian exchange rate right now is going to cause the league major pain. |

yeah, all of that talk about big jumps in the cap is out the window. with the US trying to crumble the Canadian economy, it could get bad

When salary cap discussions include tariffs, then you know poop has jumped the shark. Completely unnecessary trade war against an ally. Brilliant (frank)ing idea cooked up by rocket scientists and brain surgeons.

Yup.
I said months ago when the cap predictions came out that it was positive to hear that they want it to go up....but reality of the world around us could still impact that. Several people said "no no never going to happen".
But
Looks like it could. I think we definitely see a $5m cap jump next season....but who knows after that.
Wait and see

Canada may be getting another 30 day delay coming on any goods covered by the current USMCA free trade agreement.
Rest at ease everyone…until April 6th. |

Its more than tariffs. These actions impact the economy which impact how and where people spend their money.
But we'll see. |

Until Canada stopped buying Kentucky Bourbon…lol.
This is all just happening to make my life hell.
We’ll still be paying at least 20% more for any China product shipped from the USA though. At least until that changes, too.
It’s all fun, fun, fun.
I love my job.

I hope my job is fairly insulated from all this tariff bullpoop. I know The Northwest Company buys goods from the US, but hopefully they just pivot to more Canadian/European products. The reserves up North will always need goods flown in, so I’m probably ok. But aircraft parts or something like that might affect us.
I read something kinda funny lastnight. The US broke our agreement regarding the free trade agreement (that Trump negotiated) that had us selling our oil to the US far below market value. Now with the pipeline to the west coast, Canada can now sell it to other countries for a higher price.
Trump truly (frank)ed up. PMJT was spot on when he said this was a stupid idea starting a trade war with us. For the foreseeable future I will not buy anything made in America. |

Well, there is sweet f@ck all happening here, so why not discuss some of Ek's rumors. Tanev (70%) and Oleksiak (30%) to the Leafs. Thoughts? What does it take to get that done? Where does Tanev slot in? |
