They let in 4 goals in the 3rd, let's not make it more humiliating. 🤔😣 |

And now we have Mrazek back, who notoriously let in 3+ goals very frequently and was our backstop during the chronic "blow the lead in the 3rd period" era. Not thrilled about today's results at all, now they sit on a 5 game losing streak on top of it. |

Complete implosion since 4N. Several folks expressed concern. Larkin was off his game and Rayzor's turned into a butter-knife. Not sure what the answer is, but the doesn't start with "Mra...." Sad to witness.
Heard/read that asking prices were silly high. Walman pulled a 1st.... In his post-TDL, The Captain said he wasn't at a place where trading off his assets was considered so I'm sure every discussion started with ASP.....
Buckle up lads. Next high point is seeing which kids get a call-up, give us some insight into what the roster may look like next year. |

Quote from Yzerman after the trade deadline:
"To get guys that are making a difference, it's first round, plus, plus. Right or wrong, I'm not doing that."
Can't really argue with that statement. The acquisition cost was deemed too high for deals that didn’t guarantee success. While I'm not sure getting Mrazek and Smith improves our team at all except giving us decent goalie insurance in case of injury... I'm glad he didn't just do a knee jerk reaction and trade our first round pick or top prospects for another aging veteran who wouldn't be part of our future core. Hopefully the roster will look much different and younger next season. Just don't see the Wings getting a wildcard spot with the really tough schedule they have left. Too many other teams they'd have to leapfrog for that to happen.
Really need to find a way to get Buchelnikov over here. They need to buy out his KHL contract if able or see what it would take to get him here. Sandin-Pellka will be here and Lombardi is ready for the NHL now. Tuomisto and Wallinder have a great shot to take a job in Detroit next year as well. Nygard should be here next season to get acclimated to North American hockey in GR. He should be ready for the AHL next season. The super slow pace of this rebuild really stinks... but there's no good shortcuts around it. |
